Abbotsford Arms — Restaurant in Eastern Cape

Not impressed at all after the service we recieved on Tuesday. My gf and I arrived there just after 17:30, we ordered the cookies and cream milkshakes (which were perfect btw 5/5) then shortly after we ordered our dinner which was suppose to be the chicken "oh deer" burgers with added mushrooms. After waiting 45 minutes the waiter came up to us and said he gave our order to someone else, he oppologised and offered us complimentary drinks while we waited for the order. We asked for another round of the same milkshakes. He later returned with 2 different milkshakes, which he thought would be a nice suprise...How giving someone something different from what they asked is a nice surprise baffles me...I accepted them and waited for the burgers. About 19:20 the burgers arrived, but it was not what we had ordered...it was a simple order of 2 chicken oh deers with added mushrooms, what we got was beef burgers. We were not impressed at all, I simply asked for 2 doggy bags, we paid our bill and off we went. After a service like this I don't think I'll be returning to you guys again. Service was slow. The girl who was attending to us (I forget her name) was an abrupt, feisty little thing, but I guess that comes with being a waitress at a dusky joint like Abbotsford Arms.

On another note, the food was good; my buddies and I ordered some crumbed wings that would give KFC a run for their money, and a variety of sauces to go with. We ordered the bourbon BBQ dipping sauce, I think. It was smokey and delicious! We ordered a second basket of fiery wings with some fresh chips that came out the kitchen nice and hot and went down well with...

I hate giving negative reviews. But the number of times these guys run out of basics is just not acceptable. No Castle Light draft. No basic wines in stock. Monday nights is Burger special. Ridiculously attractive prices which is a drawcard but sadly you're told kitchen is closed because they've run out of stock. I could understand this if the place was full but if there were 20 people that was a lot. And all complaining. Staff embarrassed and owners nowhere to be seen. So sad because so much money has been spent on creating a venue...
