3/5 - Take aways - Portuguese Style Chicken and Chips, but was a bit disappointed comparing it to a National Brand alternative - had to agree with wife in that it was OK. Firstly I have heard a lot about this place and in the quest for "slap chips" decided to pop in just after they opened at 12h00 today as I was in the area. Take note that they operate at specific times, so check before going. A whole chicken and chips (R160) as well as an extra side portion of chips (R40) was ordered. The chicken was cut into 8 pieces and basted in Lemon and Herb sauce. The portion of chips that came with it we opted not to put any additional sauce on. The extra portion of chips, we opted to put on the BBQ sauce. Overall the chicken was "OK" and a little on the small side portion. The BBQ covered extra portion of chips was tasty but not as "slap" as what we have been looking for in Port Elizabeth (so the hunt continues).... To sum up the food was taste wise OK, the portion on the small side for the amount of money being paid (maybe we had a bad pick of the draw), and the chips not as thick and "slap" as what we have been searching for. Side note - The area where the restaurant is located is close to city center area so some people may not feel comfortable venturing out into the area, however I did not feel threatened or unsafe at all when I arrived at midday.

Last year, this restaurant was always busy at nights with the locals and student types, this year, it appear to have taken quite a beating with the SARS COV2 restrictions. Today's meal of limp, tasteless, soggy, microwave, exploded shrimp, seems to mirror everything that is wrong with the degrading, degenerative, broken down immoral dorp/ town /city /country /world /universe. Don't sell what you can't cook reasonable well. Rather keep the menu basic, and specialize in the original core products.

The food is amazing. The prawns are insane. Everything he prepares is mouth watering. A place everyone must visit. You are allowed to bring your own snacks and drinks to the restaurant as there is a bit of a wait. The wait is worth it . Amazing place Bruno you and your team keep up the amazing experience

I ordered a kg ribs and chips takeaway tonight at 18:45 and was told over the phone that it would be about 30min. The guy on the phone never took my name or number like one would usually do when taking an order At 19:20 I got there and was told that it will be about another 5 to 10 min so I had a smoke outside and came back in to see people who came in and ordered after I got there receiving their orders. I sat patiently and waited another 20min. Tired of waiting I approached the owner and asked him what was going on. He replied: "Those people were here before you and you must not come and want to jump the line. You must wait if you want food here." Surely they were there before me if I saw them order their meals as I was going for that smoke? So I walked out the door without food, very disappointed and irritated. I will never go to Cutaba again after this incident. How can you run a business like that? The previous time we went there and ate in the restaurant the food also took about an hour and a half. The kitchen does not look too...

Best Pork Ribs in PE but probably best to take away and eat in the safety of ones home unless one is with a group of friends, that's just my view but I could be wrong (2019).

Revised review I have to revise my review of 5 to 1. I bought 1KG ribs and chips on 9 March 2023 which was a take away. As a side note it's interesting that when you place w telephone order, they don't take your name so it seems to make no difference. We shared the food among 3 of us and have spent an entire day sick. From the diarrhea, it seems to be food poisoning. It can only be the take away as it is the only common meal we all had. Will definitely take a while before...
