I enjoyed their fresh hake and slapchips, took a takeaway because I was too busy to sit down. No airs and graces at Fish Finder, apart from the extensive wine and beer menu, everything is rustic, there are a few tables (if you are lucky enough) but the seafood is top notch, very fresh, unlike many other establishments. Calamari is very tender, quite possibly the best in town. I know that fresh fish in a harbour town is a little trite, but too many places in Port Elizabeth are selling frozen rubbish (Gauteng fish), it's time to call them out and celebrate the places that actually care for their clients to the extent that they insist on serving fresh seafood. COVID-19 is no excuse! I will continue to support Fish Finder and the others that serve FRESH fish.
I even took a takeaway as padkos for the trip back to Gauteng, this fish was so fresh that I could not get enough, I enjoyed it cold at a roadstop in Coleburg, and the fishcakes were still good in Bloemfontein. Cannot wait until I get beck to PE for more fresh fish from...
Read moreThis was our 3rd visit over a period of 2/3 years. Firstly, it was extremely busy with take away customers, possibly because it was a Friday evening, the place is obviously understaffed and the solo male waiter who also was behind the till was working his socks off to keep everyone happy together with a few others who were dining in. The food served was ok but having dined at numerous fish restaurants over the the years, the end result fell quite short in quality considering the comparable high prices. It’s a shame because potentially it’s a one off place in a good quality residential area and a mass improvement could be made. I certainly wouldn’t rush back there again when I compare the fish/chips to other places in PE, Western cape and other countries. By all means, see for yourself but from experience, I’ve enjoyed better fish/chips in many places elsewhere, only my...
Read moreHake and chips was good/average, can't complain. However they are quite expensive (R94 for a traditional hake and chips). Pre-ordered telephonically and was told my order would take 30 minutes, okay no problem, it was over lunch on a Wednesday. Got there after 35 minutes and my order wasn't ready yet even though the place was really not busy. Also they didn't ask if we wanted salt & vinegar or any spices on the chips, then when we got our order there was no spices on the chips and also no separate spices for us to put on ourselves, so another mission to open all boxes to but...
