One of my most horrible experiences ever. The Dhal Makhani and the Paneer Tika had exactly the same taste prepared with the same base.
To my understanding, Paneer Tikka is an almost dry meal or with a very thick gravy. The meal I was served with was close to a curry soup, with lots of a canned tomato base and 8 cubes of paneer, approximately 1 cm x 1 cm x 1 cm in dimensions.
The Dhal Makhani tasted more like lentils dunked in a tomato base out of a can.
Chicken Tikka Masala can never be more cardboard-ish than that which was served to one of my guests at our rickety tables.
The advertising of the "Restaurant" on television is very misleading and the outlet can hardly be called a restaurant. In reality, it is a very grotty environment, almost a pavement style operation, with a few chairs and tables slapped together.
The pricing structure is very much in line with a good Indian Cuisine Restaurant, noting that what I have described hardly even meets the standards of a standard take-away operation.
To the waiters advantage, he blamed the lack of availability of most items on the menu (including salad) on the fact that there was load shedding. Please note that this incident occurred at around 16h00 in broad daylight.
Whilst the original Copper Chimney in Durban has an extremely good reputation, the same cannot be said here. Perhaps an opportunity for the Brand Name/Owners/ Franchisors to review their...
Read moreOrdered the Paneer Tikka & the Kadai Mushroom curries with Roti & a garlic Naan. The paneer Tikka curry was decent & flavourful. The Kadai mushroom curry was mainly gravey with very very sparce vegetables. I encountered 1 or 2 mushrooms in my meal and perhaps the other vegetables were blended in. The picture on the menu showed a chunky rich pepper and mushroom curry in a light curry sauce. I did not enjoy it at all and it was completely different from the pic. Sadly my expectation was based on the pic. Felt robbed as we only saw this when we reached home. As a sit in, I would have sent it back. Guess, don't go there late (we were there at 14h39) as the food looks like it gets finished by lunchtime. The Roti was terrible. Very dry & broke apart when folded. The garlic Naan was very nice. The prices were good and the service was ok. Not a place I would go back to through. If the waiter had told us they were out of veg or mushrooms, we would have changed our order. Sending it out in such a bad state was a...
Read moreHave been buying here for a while..sometimes 3x week . Recently learnt after complaining to Arif, the owner that customers are not appreciated at all. He failed to call me back after the complaint and literally ignored it! What an arrogant person . Just as pathetic as his manager in store who blocks your number when u have a legitimate complaint about the food. I advised him that when complaints are given to the manager, Ali about the food being prepared substandard, he does not like it and thus, cancels the orders once he sees your details! Always has an issue even though you are supporting the business! I once got a beans curry with hard uncooked beans provided! It's almost like they are feeding animals and not human beings! Be aware that they just cancel your food without warning and by the time you realised it's cancelled..you will be starved. Happened to me atleast 3x. This shop does not...
