I took my family to Fahrenheit Benoni for Christmas lunch and what a mistake that was.
Our reservation was at 14:30pm, we only got into the restaurant and seated at 15:15pm.
It was set menu, which you’d assume would make this move quicker, but it didn’t.
It took forever for us to get our starters and when they arrived, the chicken livers were raw and had to be sent back. There were no rolls with our other starters and the portions were dismal.
We then ordered our mains and again, it took forever for us to get our food and when we did , the food was below standard. The sirloin on the bone were practically raw and super fatty , when we asked for them cook it a bit more and get us another cut, it came back even worse. The prawns were not fresh and they left a grey sauce in the plate, the kingkilp was over cooked and the calamari was rubbery.
After all this, we then chose our desserts. We had a few options, but after placing our order and waiting a further 30mins, they told us that they didn’t have stock of what we ordered.
I understand that it was Christmas and that they would be busy, but this is unacceptable. If they knew they couldn’t handle the amount of people, they shouldn’t have over sold.
Management didn’t even come to apologize, and the poor waiters who were working hard, had to come back and apologise for all the mishaps and delays.
We left there just before 18:30pm.
The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth and needless to say, we shall not be returning to this establishment.
After my review, Fahrenheit Benoni made contact with me and apologised for the experience we had received.
The manager Norma, asked us to give them another chance and we agreed.
We returned to the restaurant and we had a very good experience. Norma made sure that we were comfortable and that we were well taken care of. The food was good and the service exceptional.
Thank you Norma and the owners of Fahrenheit Benoni.
We will gladly return to...

Read moreFor a place with such a good reputation, I was disappointed in the food.
I had the Delux Carpaccio as a starter. It was an incohesive dish from start to finish. The springbok was nice, but the massive raw onion pieces sprinkled on top had no place there. I picked it off immediately. The olives weren't pitted, the sunflower and pumpkin seeds added texture but didn't do much for the taste of the springbok. There was a random half avo sliced up on the side of the dish. The provolone cheese was dry as if it had stood out for some time. I never received a berry vinaigrette, which could have brought this dish together. Ultimately, it's a disappointing dish.
For mains, I had the fillet lobster. My fillet was ordered medium rare, i received it well done. It was so dry and begging for a sauce. The lobster tails are the size of a small prawn. They, too, were overcooked. When i tried getting them out of the shell, the meat flaked apart. The chips were good and the veggies were so bland I didn't bother eating them. If anyone is reading this for advice, I'd say trade the veg for more chips!
My colleagues seemed to have picked the better dishes by far. They had the sirloin on the bone, which looked far more appetizing than my meal.
The atmosphere was great, the waiter was excellent and the beers/tequila was nice and cold. Well done on that.
Update: How am i supposed to DM you, i need contact...
