Been almost a year since we were last at the Irene Dairy Farm for breakfast. What a treat it was to see the facelift and improvements. We were early, before the crowds (driven passed there before and seen the parking area packed), anticipating the usual wait. Pleasantly surprised to see the increase in floor space of the restaurant, ergonomically laid out sweets, rusks, biscuits etc. isles. Spoilt for choice there. As you enter the door, fresh milk and cream available on the right, bring your own container or get one there, they will fill it for you with farm fresh milk. All the usual refreshments, pile of cakes and tarts to pick from, isle upon isle of lots of home backed type goodies including various condiments, biscuits, cookies, rusks, date balls and such. Fresh baked goodies also on offer such as pies, donuts and other pastries. Even an ice-cream scoop section, positive that is popular in hot summer conditions. Going for a walk to view the animals with a lovely ice-cream in hand sounds perfect. Very pleased to see the gluten free, Banting friendly and low carb products as well. My kind of place. A little pricey, but I trust they have their own bills to pay inclusive of heavy rates and taxes considering the prime real estate location in the middle of Irene. Staff very well attired, earth colours and the likes. Assume they have done some training there, smiles as far as far as you go, somebody got the message home that the customer is your bread and butter, treat them accordingly. Kudos to the management team. Our group of 8 were quickly accommodated with the new layout of benches and chairs. Natasha greeted us with a smile and tended to our drinks promptly, placed our meal order and we did not wait as long as I originally anticipated. Was pleased once again to see Banting options available on the menu. Prices a little higher than I would have thought appropriate and the presentation (for the price) could do with a little improvement. My Banting Topper was missing the Chorizo (only realised it after the fact) and had no dressing on the sides to add colour (green and reds would do). The wife had the Omelette, looked good bar the lack of colour (dressing again), was on the dry side requiring some water to aid swallowing. The chips on the side were done to perfection, not really on my list, but, did pinch one or two which were a right treat. Our eldest daughter opted for Scones, cheese and cream, the youngest opted for Flapjacks Stack with cream and fruit compote. Unfortunately, the scones were quite brittle and while cutting in half or smearing tended to crumble easily, the cream was fresh but not beaten i.e. ran all over the place. She ended up only eating one half of a scone. The youngest did not fare much better, two of the three flapjacks were borderline burnt. Fortunately, Natasha arranged for prompt replacements. The same cream issue applied, runny. Wonder if there is a whipped cream option available. She did not find the fruit compote very palatable. Normally the girls clean their plates, not this time round. On the up side, my Americano coffee was awesome, strong, just enough creme and not bitter. Rate the shop, decor and staff a 4.5, but the food, presentation and pricing barely make a 2. Did not get to see the rest of the farm, but the wife and girls did pay the barn and restroom a visit and were amazed with the improvements there. Well done to the Management...

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Irene Farm, a delightful dairy farm located just outside of Pretoria. My visit to this picturesque farm was a memorable experience filled with fresh milk, scrumptious food, and a leisurely walk among friendly farm animals.
Upon arrival, I was immediately struck by the serene and idyllic setting of Irene Farm. The lush green pastures, old oak trees, and rustic farm buildings all contributed to the farm's charming ambiance. The farm store, where I purchased some fresh raw milk, was well-stocked with a variety of dairy products and other farm-fresh goods.
After acquiring some of their renowned raw milk, I decided to treat myself to a meal at the farm's restaurant. I opted for their signature burger, made with locally sourced ingredients, and I must say it was one of the best burgers I have ever tasted. The patty was juicy and flavorful, the toppings fresh and abundant, and the bun perfectly toasted. It was a truly satisfying culinary experience.
