Spa Day semi-disaster. My mom and I went to Camdeboo Day Spa to celebrate her birthday on Friday (10 March). The day was absolutely wonderful. We enjoyed all our treatments (a back, neck and shoulder massage with hot stones, facials and manis and pedis) as well as a delightful lunch in the cool fresh air. The staff at the Spa are friendly, attentive, welcoming and helpful. The decor is beautiful and it is situated away from the hub bub of city life. The atmosphere is totally calming and exactly what was needed. The facilities offered (a sauna, steam room, pool and several showers) are free to be used by guests as needed and all are nicely maintained. The products used in the massages and facials are of high quality and leave you feeling like a goddess walking in the clouds. My problem with this day spa comes in when we paid and then the next day. When my mom paid the bill they charged us for half the amount of the quote they sent. We asked if this was correct and they assured us that the amount was legitimate. They also didn't charge us for our meal. On the way home I got a phone call about the meal charge which I then told them to take off my mom's account. Only once we got home (almost an hour after we left the spa) did I get another phone call telling us that they didn't charge for both of us and only one. Again another charge was then taken off her account. My second problem reared its ugly head the next morning when I woke up to find my manicure was already chipping. I was fairly disappointed as I don't really ever go for manicures and this was my first in almost 10 years. By the end of Saturday the manicure had peeled off completely, leaving me with six fingers purple-less. The same occurred with my mom. We sat there literally able to peel the full colour off with little effort. Also my mom discovered after all her polish had peeled off that her nails were in worse condition than when she arrived with her nails having been buffed paper-thin. We phoned the spa back on Saturday afternoon to alert them that their manicures don't last and were told that a manager would contact us to discuss the situation. We have yet to hear from said manager a full day later. This has totally ruined the experience we had while there and has made me question the quality of the nail products the spa uses. Especially since the manicures are nearly R500 each! A total disappointment in the end. While the spa is a perfect place for a massage or facial, I will never have a manicure or pedicure there ever again.

We had a corporate booking at Kievitskroon, which they decided to cancel 3 working days before our event, allegedly because they had a prior booking which their system didn't pick up. 🤔 They were unwilling to still accommodate us and simply insisted that we move our (paid in full) booking, but then proceeded to ignore all communication from me for 24 hours... so with basically 2 working days left to make alternative arrangements, i contacted Robyn-Lee at Camdeboo... what a refreshing experience! She was friendly and accommodating and within minutes our event was arranged with them and i had their invoice (this step took about a week with Kievitskroon). And lo and behold, Camdeboo cost slightly less than Kievitskroon, but with so much more value for money! We got two treatments in stead of one, lovely and oh so tasty snacks at the spa and a nice lunch at the restaurant afterwards. While there were some room for improvement with the lunch and service at the restaurant, everything was very tasty. The snacks at the spa however was gorgeous, more than enough and simply delicious. The spa staff were so friendly and professional and all the ladies loved their treatments! The therapists clearly had excellent training and they went out of their way to assist and accommodate even the elderly ladies in our group. Robyn-Lee even arranged with Mervin to make several trips with a gold cart to collect our group from the spa and take us down to the restaurant, and then back again. Thanks also Mervin for your friendly "taxi service". 😁The grounds are beautiful and relaxing. Will definitely recommend Camdeboo for corporate events, ladies functions or just for yourself. In a world where poor client service and over priced services are becoming the norm, Camdeboo surely is a breath of fresh air. Thanks Robyn-Lee for your professional assistance and special thanks also to Patricia for absolute perfect massages.

I expected more considering the marketing that goes into this facility. They had no slippers for spa treatment clients, the robe was so old and washed out, the treatment bed was so old and hard that it actually hurt my face. They mixed up my booking and had none in place when I arrived. What counts in their favour, is that they remedied the situation by making a therapist available on short notice. They are friendly and courteous. Perhaps the decline of the facility is still as a result of the COVID 19 pandemic that adversely affected the beauty industry particularly badly.

I was very disappointed. This spa is over priced for what you get! For the price of a pedicure, they gave me an option of about 7 colours of nail polish? Surely you can invest in better quality and more diverse options? I phoned 3 times to make sure my booking was correct! It was a surprise for my sister's 40th birthday, but nobody wished her a happy birthday except the waiter later the day. I ordered champagne and cake over the phone with my booking and I asked SO MANY times if it will be fine, BUT when we got there, no alcohol was allowed to be served!!! I don't know why, as restaurants can now serve alcohol (this was the 22 of August). Why didn't they tell me over the phone!!! We then had to order coffee and waited so long for them to arrive, they were ice cold by the time we got them. The treatments were good, just lacking in some basic "finishing" touches, like a blanket, as I was cold. I don't know how this spa has won awards! Come time for payment and the Reception still didn't know what treatments we got and had to check. I maxed the amount I could pay on my card and then offered to pay the balance in cash. She then said they don't take cash.... Nobody said this to me over the phone. My sister then had to pay the rest on her card on her birthday!! I was embarrased! Why wasn't an EFT suggested to me. Very unprofessional!! The only positive points were the therapists themselves and the waitress who didn't charge for the coffees as she could see how upset we were with...
