I discovered this kota joint through passing and I decided to take my bestfriend and we go try it out. They literally serve the best kotas you can ask for. Well, not regular kotas you can find at a local shop. Their kotas are a bit fancy and they are delicious. Not only do they serve kotas but also sandwiches and yummy milkshakes and they serve other drinks. My favourite Kota was a rib kota, in which it consisted of 300g of spare ribs and chips and they give your sauces to dip your chips in. Their sauces are also top tier, the best I’ve tasted. The best sauce to pair with the rib kota is definitely the barberque sauce, they just go well together. This kota joint has a cool drive through as big as a mall parking lot. Where the staff comes to your car and takes an order from you and they deliver it to you while waiting in the car and as you wait, you get to be entertained by good music and there’s a big screen tv you can just watch while you wait. They usually play soccer matches if there is a match playing. Not to mention how friendly the staff is, they are always smiling and if it’s your first time going there, they will definitely help you choose the right kota bun and I guarantee that you are most likely to go back there. They have these amazing floating milkshakes as well, in which they mix the flavours for you and you get to have best of both worlds. I highly recommend going during the week because it’s less busy and you get full service. You definitely won’t regret spending your money here. Their meals range from R40 and they are...
Read moreSo having patronized plenty of roadhouse around SA and the Kota Joe's in Boksburg, I feel the branch in Alberton should rather be renamed Kota Joe's drive thru/pick up...the term roadhouse is a complete mistake here, although like a roadhouse you get the window tray and food served on a plate/basket etc should you specify that you are eating there , 95% of their clients order brown bag take outs and strive off , the problem being you as a proper roadhouse patron have to keep pulling your car forwards and backwards to keep letting these drive through customers out , eating was a nightmare, they weren't as busy as usual but my husband had to move on two occasions , the second time he called and gave his plate with half eaten food to a waiter whilst he started the car and manuevred - this is such a common occurrence that when we told the staff we were eating there ( Ala roadhouse) they promptly told us we would be subjected to " please can you move your car requests) - so I would recommend the Johhny Guitar roadhouse down the road - proper set up for a roadhouse ( you can drive around someone) . Or if you are a big fan of drive thrus like McDonalds or burger King, the Kota Joe in Alberton is an alternative ( picture yourself in your car at Mcdonald's drive through, you've just picked up your order , but its on a plate with cutlery and milkshakes in glasses and the guy in car behind you just got his in a McDonald's brown bag and wants to go home ....get...
Read moreI recently visited Kota Joe in Alberton and I have to say, I really loved the vibe and how the place looks. The atmosphere was great, and both my waitress Happy and the waiter Francis were absolutely wonderful! They were attentive, friendly, and made my experience really pleasant at first.
Unfortunately, what started as a great lunch ended on a sour note because of how the manager treated me towards the end of my meal.
I had ordered a crusher with my food and enjoyed it, so after eating I asked the waitress to surprise me with another flavour of her choice. Sadly, I couldn’t stomach the one she chose, so I politely asked Francis if it could be exchanged. He was kind enough to take it back, but when he returned with the manager, the manager’s attitude was dismissive and unpleasant. He didn’t even take a moment to listen to my concern or explain things with any empathy.
I completely understand if there are policies that prevent exchanges, but it’s how things are handled that makes the difference. I also work in customer service, so I know how important tone and empathy are when dealing with customers — especially those who have supported your business and spent a fair amount.
It’s unfortunate that such a great meal and lovely service from the waitstaff ended with that...
