Pure vegetarian restaurant serving both Italian and traditional Indian cuisine. The food is freshly prepared and full of flavor. As a vegetarian you can have peace of mind and order anything off the menu without hesitation! The restaurant is based on the Swaminarayan following and hence the food served is also prepared without onion and garlic. My favourites you can see in my pic, include the deluxe thali, chip roll and samosas. The decor is homely and the staff are very friendly and eager to assist. There is also an adjoining Indian grocery/ sweetmeat shop. The only downside about this establishment is the location on Church street in Mayfair. Not the safest of areas and parking is extremely limited. Still, if you're willing to brave that, then you can at least experience yummy food! Oh and they get pretty busy on weekends and hence dont accept bookings so get there soon to avoid long waiting times.

I ordered mango Lassi but the taste was a bit different, I asked the waiter about the ingredients and I was a bit surprised as it was made with sour milk and not with real ingredients yougert and milk. For my meal I ordered big Thali but I was disappointed with the selection of veggies and the dessert was again sour milk something and the salad was also a bit dry. Previously I had Thali in dubai and it was great but at Shayona is disappointing.

Decent vegetarian food. Had the cannelloni. Thought it was ok, somewhat bland. Next time I’ll stick to the Indian food. I got some take aways - the curries were excellent. Well priced food. Good service. It was somewhat busy when we went there around 1 on a Sunday afternoon. Parking can be a bit of a mission. The area itself feels dodgey.

Visited this place today and had the worst experience ever. I have been a customer for over 10 years and had terrible service from the restaurant. I had ordered 2 dosa’s and 1 lasagne. The lasagne took 45 mins to arrive. At this time I was told to wait another 5 mins for the dosa’s. After 10 minutes they told me they are unable to fulfill the order. I then requested some chip rolls. I was then told that they do not have potatoes. This has been a very poor experience at this restaurant and would not recommend others to support them. If their equipment was not in order to make dosa’s, they should have just advised me the same from the beginning when they take the order. The staff did not seem to care one bit at rectifying the situation and assist their patrons. I cannot understand how staff are improperly trained to assist in such events. Staff should learn to be proactive and assist customers. Not wait for the customer to react and think of an excuse. I believe top management are happily running the establishment and are not aware of the poor service delivered at the restaurant. I called the bill and paid for the lasagne as that was the only item received. Actually had asked them to place it in a takeaway parcel and left. The unapologetic behavior of the staff have left me no choice but to rather support other restaurants. The least I expect is a call from management to offer a...

Ok-ish (but, not wow) veggie meals here. And beware of being late. You may find that they're all sold out if you're late.

They absolutely do not cater to larger portions (like family sized portions). They sell in their cooked foods in 350ml tubs only, meaning that you would need to pay for additional tubs of food separately if you are buying for a family of 2 or more.

This is unlike other vegetarian takeaways that have a S, M, & Large offering, allowing a bit of saving with larger portions in a single container as compared to buying several containers of one type of food.

I find that they are also relatively pricey and very limited for what they offer, if I have to compare them to other similar veggie food takeaways. They charge R60.00 for a takeaway portion curry and R25.00 for 6 medium sized roti. A bit of overkill on the prices in my humble opinion.

Finally, this is not a safe area. Parking is an issue. And this happens to be a very busy area. I always think twice before coming out here, and most often, I only come here if I am...
