Among a whole host of Indian restaurants in Pretoria, Taste of India Restaurant, located in a quiet corner of Cornwall View Shopping Centre on the southern fringe of Elardus Park, Pretoria East, manages to deliver the whole Indian culinary package. From the bold store sign, to the inviting storefront and entrance, with soft Indian music playing in the background, the restaurant draws one in. On offer is one of the most extensive and mouthwatering menus of Indian Delights, that would inspire one to indulge over several successive visits. The dining area is beautifully set out, and tastefully decorated to enhance one's enjoyment of the Indian cuisine. They do serve alcohol, including a variety of wines to ensure an all-encompassing dining experience. Bathrooms are well maintained, with easy access to a well-equipped washing area, if one chooses to live the Indian foodie experience and eat with one's fingers. Kiddies' highchair is available, and access is mostly wheelchair enabled. Staff were most amiable during the visit, and Waitron, Petronella, graciously saw to our dining needs. Seating is very comfortable, and an overall pleasurable ambiance prevails. Did not have to wait too long for the food, but when it did arrive, it was very appetizing, amazingly generous portions, demonstrating good value for money. The lamb curry choice of mild spice was almost prepared to perfection, while the garlic naan was excellent. They also prepare excellent Basmati rice. Absolutely fantastic. We are crazy about the chicken korma with garlic naan. The service is impeccable, the food is out of this world, the restaurant is clean and has a comfortable atmosphere, the pricing is really good. We have been to other Indian restaurants but none of them can compare to Taste of India. We absolutely love Taste of India.
