So this was not the first time I have been here . It has been a good couple of months since I last visited this establishment.

I have to say ...

It has gone downhill. In a very big way.

The waiter kept forgetting orders. I had to place the same order 3 times in a space of 2 hours!

The food arrived and one main meal was off and inedible. On top of that, half the food arrived for the table whilst the other half waited 20 mins longer. Two of the steak orders were not cooked to the correct temperatures. An additional steak order was so full of sinew on one half, that it became inedible and was sent back and a dessert was brought as an apology.

After the off/ inedible food was sent back and a new order was placed, it took a further hour and a bit to get a new meal (chicken strips and chips). We had to remind the waiter at the 45 min mark when she rushed over to the kitchen to sort it out.

When asked for a simple sauce with the above-mentioned chicken strips and chips, we were told that the establishment did not have said sauce and that we must complain to management as they, the staff, are tired of bringing it up with them.

When the bill arrived there were items on the bill that were ordered and never received, but we were charged for them anyways.

This all comes down to the management of a restaurant. This is a local for many people in the area and people will support the establishment if run correctly. Things need to be done.

Until a change occurs, I recommend not eating here. I certainly will not be back nor the table of 15 people...

I love the layout of the restaurant. Play area fantastic! The lady in the play area was exceptional, really made an effort to play with all the kids that came into the play area. We were a table of 6 (who pre booked). We had a variety of starters to share which were average nothing exceptional but nothing bad either. Mains: I had ordered the pork belly which was delicious! I'd recommend that. One of us ordered the braaied prawns which was also delicious. Nice and smoked I'd recommend those too. One ordered ribs which was unfortunately bland, one ordered fillet which was a lot like rump unfortunately. We also ordered a prego which was delicious but spicy. Kids chicken strips were nice too.

They unfortunately loose 2 stars from me.

  1. The family restrooms need someone to be cleaning them when they so busy. A little boy was in there before me and made a mess.
  2. The waitress needs serious training. I felt like the waitress was pushy on our drinks orders. We weren't even halfway done with a glass and she would be there asking if she could bring refills. After we'd say we still fine for now before the glass was done she was back again to ask about refills. . I had to ask her 3 times for a jug of water. To which she kept telling me her long glasses are the same size. I then explained all 3 times I don't want to be sharing a long glass. I also asked 3 times for take away boxes. She also mentioned how she's battling financially; I felt really bad for her but it's really not something I want to be hearing while I'm out on a special occasion trying to celebrate...

Only eat the ribs! Steak, I've been twice and both times have been overcooked. For context, I like medium rare - it's always well done. When I told them this time, the waitress observed the meat was grey and overdone, said she'd talk to the manager and took the offending meat away. She offered to replace the meat entirely immediately and I, being a fool who waited 2hrs for a medium rare steak, told her not to worry about it. "Give me a little discount, I'll pay for what I ate", I said, and returned my meat. (I ate the pap) Does the manager not came to my table 10 minutes later with a rare, obviously bigger, cut of someone else's meat, presented to me like the meat I sent back. Confronting me in front of our party, with a bloody steak...I asked him directly, "is that my meat?", he was embarrassed and didn't answer. My whole table remarked how my steak was suddenly bigger when the manager came to confront me, and how all their meat was overdone. I paid the full price, but honestly, what a disappointment — this establishment's lack of integrity and insulting patrons with blatant lies leaves a poor taste in your mouth. My sister's dessert also had a big blonde hair in it and when it was returned before eating, the staff gathered and made a scene. My hair was up, and me and my sister's are all brunettes. Go somewhere else, that cooks steak properly and doesn't treat its customers like fools. If you need a playground more than good food, this is the place for you. But it's exploitative, parents of tots deserve...

We were not allowed to book a table for 6 for a Sunday at 14h00, and were told to take a chance and just come on the Sunday. A bit of a strange approach. Bees were everywhere from the minute we received our drinks and stayed for the whole duration. Perhaps the restaurant should invest in those little battery operared windmill thingy ma bobs to keep them at bay. The water of the lake had a red algae like surface covering, which ponged a bit, and there was some plastic bottles and bags in the water. Suggest the restaurant arranges a little boat to keep their side of the lake cleaned up, as most of their customers are sitting waterside. (Boats are lying by the Lonehill koppie entrance) Service was good, but we never received the table salad we had ordered, but didn't miss it that much, as we all received generous meal portions. Two of the guests ordered meat on a skewer, and it came on top of a type of an intimidating plate sized pitta bread with 3 sauce containers. Eish, messy and unsophisticated. Also why chips AND pita bread? Both guests struggled to come to terms with this presentation and struggled with an approach on how to eat it. Suggest to relook the whole presentation of this dish, and reduce the size of the ungainly pita bread by at least half. Suggest to check out how Greek restaurant Nikos serves pita bread. The Lamb Shank with parmesan mash was excellent. The beef fillet steak was excellent. Two Wagyu beef burgers did not exite, seems this burger needs a lot more elevation to be able to wow guests.

I am utterly horrified at my experience at Braai Room in Lonehill. My husband and I ordered a meat platter with a side of pap. As I was eating I found grey rotten pieces inside my pap. I called the waiter, who immediately took the piece to the back, we waited for a while for him to come back and the manager returned to ask what had happened even though I had already seen him talk to the waiter, I told him to go fetch the piece of pap in question. To my shock, he brought back a diffirent piece of pap without the bits that were there, then he further lied telling me there was only water in the pap. I asked them to fetch the correct piece of pap and suddenly no one knew where it was. Eventually we checked footage and saw one of the chefs take out the rotten piece and throw it away proving they had tried to bury the evidence. This to me is much worse than the fact that the pap was contaminated with who knows what, the fact that they resorted to lying and gaslighting a customer to believe there was no issue is beyond disgusting and unethical. Luckily I had a small piece left to prove it wasn’t water even though they were still trying to convince me otherwise. Definitely reporting this matter further. Please save your money and protect your health by never setting foot there

Great place to chill. Will do a more in depth review later. It is ideal to sit outside next to the water and viewing the koppie in a distance. There is a gate leading from the Braai room to the park. Ideal if you want to eat and drink something at the Braai room and then take a walk in the park. Or vice versa. The braai room is ideal for kiddies parties where the dads can join as well. The prices are very reasonable for a specialized braai place, with paptert and other side dishes to compliment a real braai meal. Take a walk around the dam area. Pity the Bridge is not in use for a long time and need repair. The a stroll to the koppie seeing from a distance. Uncover free parking at the entrance of shopping area just at the entrance of Braai room. Be patient for your food as it take as bit of time to serve. Bit disappointed about the size of the portion of ribs the last time. Only 4 piece ( when it is cut). So that was not a good portion. And I am not talking about the 250 g kiddies portion. Ah and don't forget the pizza oven. Nice addition.
