Good day
I went to The Flower cup today Friday6/6/25 and ordered a coffee and muffin. I asked the waitress Thuli if I could use my own milk as I'm lactose intolerant to which she agreed. I proceeded to sit down. I waited for a while and when she brought my coffee without the muffin I asked if they could warm the milk and the barista vehemently started complaining and showing his unwillingness to warm my milk. I was taken aback and shocked. I looked at him from the table in disbelief and I made sure that I maintained eye contact ensuring he knew that I was aware of what he was doing. Acting like he owns the place and as if I had transgressed in some way. Maybe he's a silent partner I don't know but it still does not give him the right to act bossy and disrespectful towards patrons.
Just to be SPITEFUL he then warms half a jug of my milk for a small cup of coffee. I asked the waitress so what am I to do with more hot milk then is necessary. This was blatant and complete disrespect and disregard for customer service and deserves a written warning.
I then asked Thuli to rather give me my coffee and muffin to go as I refuse to accept substandard service and this for a reasonable request to which was agreed to. I proceeded to leave but then noticed a man whom I perceived to be either the owner or manager and I relayed to him what had just transpired. I am a regular at this coffee shop and I enjoy the ambience there, i have spent multiple thousands of rands in the store as we buy frombthere for decorative purposes in our stores, the staff know me and I have NEVER HAD SUCH A GHASTLY EXPERIENCE in your establishment. It's as if the barista went off his head. Thuli did her best to pacify me as I felt like confronting him directly.
Kindly convey my thanks to Thuli for saving the day and it would be in your best interest to either correct the service standards or get staff who are actually knowledgeable about what customer service entails.
Extremely dissapointing...
