When we spotted the turn off into Down to Earth restaurant we had no idea what we were getting. All I knew was that I desperately wanted to relax on a couch by the water and have a coffee after days of activity in Plett.
To my surprise, everything I wanted (and everything I didn’t know I wanted) was waiting for me at Down to Earth Restaurant.
We were blown away at the beautiful scenery. Situated on the lagoon, our table was literally on a deck by the water. It was so peaceful and comfortable I considered laying down on the couch for a nap.
The service was excellent, the staff were friendly and so attentive to us. We tried the pizza and curry. One of the best curry’s I’ve eaten in a restaurant!
There is a play area outside for kids which our little ones loved. They also enjoyed spotting the crabs and jumping fish on the lagoon. They have different settings for different occasions with indoor and outdoor seating.
I would highly recommend you visit here if you want something stunning, good food, relaxing and nice area for the kids. We struggled to find child friendly places to visit in Plett so we were very happy they had a play area and...
Read moreWhilst driving through to Mossel bay, we decided to stop and have a light lunch near Plett. We were most certainly not disappointed. The service was friendly and efficient. The meals were fantastic; we had the Garden salad with crispy calamari and the fish cakes. A wonderful variety of leaves all topped with a mound of calamari – superb. The fishcakes were large moist balls of light fluffy potato and fresh fish. Definitely handmade and cooked perfectly. If I had to be super critical, I would say there should be more fish (less potato) in the fishcakes, to justify the price of R180. I always ask myself if I would have the dish again, and my answer would still be yes – they were great. A wonderful view, lovely and quiet with the ideal clientele. A very well-run...
Read moreI arrived at this coffee shop at 4 PM, expecting to grab a takeaway coffee since Google Maps says they close at 4:30. The doors were open, but as I was about to enter, the staff loudly and abruptly said, “No no no, we’re closed!” with no greeting or explanation. When I politely pointed out that Google Maps says they close at 4:30, she responded with a bad attitude, insisting it says 4, but said it very loudly and rudely. Even if they were about to close, a simple and polite “Sorry, we’re closed now” would have been enough. This attitude really put me off, and honestly, it’s a bad way to lose customers. I’m giving this place a 0-star rating because of how poorly I...
