We met some friends who have been there before at this place. Never heard of it before but it sounded interesting. Our friends told us little about what to expect so it was a nice surprise when we arrived. From the name we could deduce that it might be some kind of a cowboy bar. But it was so much more. This is a themed Wild West experience with a Saloon bar complete with a Donkey that visits the bar to fetch a beer. For itself... We had a nice experience. Fast service, nice food. Even activities to keep the kids busy (other than the Donkey they can touch and stroke). Lots of beer on tap, and lots of snacks on the menu. Great vibe, which I suppose also depends on the patrons in the Saloon, but great nevertheless during my visit. It is a good place to meet people for a drink during the holidays or after work. And the live music gives it that extra touch of authenticity. There is a Wild West Museum, and a photo booth where patrons can take pictures as if they are dressed up in costume. From the patrons it was evident that a lot of locals frequent the saloon as a local hangout place. Well done to the owners for constructing a well...
Read moreWhat an interesting venue! Never heard of it before. Drove past it and made a mental note to stop by on the way back.... So I did and it was one of those places that left memories never to he forgotten. The theme of Wild West has been fully explored in all areas of construction, decor, music, menu etc etc. So much thought and creativity by allowing the theme to perfuse throughout. The waiter/floor manager chap, Matthew is very friendly and helpful. Good, honest, tasty food (the mushroom sauce is superb), unlimited cold beer on tap, and- something people don't seem to comment on much- the positioning- on the banks of a large, picturesque "Davy Crockett-looking-KZN river" in amongst a wild fig and natal mahogany forest. Deck has seating with views over all of this. I'll be back- for a burger, mushroom sauce, cold beer and the river/forest...
Read moreVery dissapointed, a once iconic must visit site has fallen. The food was very dissapointing, firslty items not available & due to loadshedding half the menu couldnt be prepared. Seems it is very nuch a pre-make and heat up. 1 poor lady working to serve the bar & restuarant and sounded like 1 person in the kitchen. It was dirty. The pan the steak came in had old oil/fat residue stuck on it. The steak was sent back & if we weren't so hungry it would have gone back & advised to leave it. I cannot blame the staff for the service due to lack of staff. This was very dissapointing, as we drove the extra 40km to go there, past numerous sites because we were looking forward to Pistol Saloon.
The museum was left pitch black after loadshedding, which we wanted to walk through.
Really sorry such a icon had...
