Big Time Taverna — Restaurant in Kouga Local Municipality

Absolutely one of the worst places visited in South Africa. Service not existent until I had put last piece of bread in my mouth and then plates whipped away whilst still eating. I had to go to the bar myself for another drink as I was ignored the whole time at the restaurant. Chicken livers nice but I asked for mild and they came very spicy. The stuffed aubergine was horrendous, microwaved as could not have been fresh in the time it took to come out. So much hummus with only one pitta so forces you to buy more. Very very disappointed. Refused to pay 14% service charge and gave only 10% which was still too much for no service. All other tables were attended to and asked about their meal but we were just ignored. Total shambles and waste of money. When I notified waiter of bad incorrect food no acknowledgement he just walked away and asked someone else to take payment. A reduction for inedible food should have been given. Ruined a lovely day. Did not...

On returning to this restaurant after enjoying the experience last year I was very disappointed for me and my 2 colleagues at the excessive time that it took for serving the food . The restaurant looked as if it had 40 to 50 % of tables being attended. On asking the staff I was informed that all kitchen staff were present , but to take 50 mis for a starter of hummus and pitta bread for one person and starter portion of calamari is unacceptable . There is NO excuse for this , unless the order had been forgotten ....it hadn't been on asking . The final straw was that the service was added to the bill ( 3 at our table on a Tuesday night ) .. with no option apart from a verbal apology from waiting staff and manager . Beautiful spot and decor was great, but... We were a group of 5, and we ALL had to change our menu choices due to food on the menu not being available! The worst was that there were no veggies available, only salad! No mixed veggies as a side dish, No creamed spunach, No baked Brinjal dish, No calamari, No Greek potatoes as a side only chips! The poor waitress was so flustered as she had to continually advise us that a selection was not available. Also, No manager on duty, just 2 waiters who did a great job of serving a fairly busy restaurant with at least 10 tables while we were there! The Moussaka I had was very tasty but quite costly.
