I've been eyeing this place and today maybe was just an off day for me? I don't know... I was dying for a good hot drink and something indulgent to cap off the weekend. Here's where things went wrong. We ordered the spiced Chai and the chocolate pancakes to share. The foam on the chai was everything I hoped for and more, rich, spicy, creamy - but oh boy, the minute I hit the liquid I knew we weren't going to be friends with this brew. So, so sweet. To the point that I felt ill later, kind of sweet. But again, that could very well be a me thing. Here's my real gripe. If you're going to charge over R70 for pancakes, and they're advertised as three pancakes, I'll definitely be expecting more than a paper thin, barely hand-size, ice-cold pancake/crepe accompanied by just the saddest teaspoon - sized roll of vanilla Farmhouse ice-cream. The chocolate spread overwhelmed the miniscule pancake wrapping completely. All in all, we left sorely disappointed. I'm aware that Col'cacchio is not about the coffee and cake - but as a dessert... 🥺 On the plus side, our server was just lovely. She was kind, knowledgeable and friendly. And the take-out pile of pizzas going past us sure...

We had a meal at Col'Cacchio Ballito earlier this week. My daughter and I both ate lasagne which was stodgy, undercooked and had barely any sauce. My son had meatballs which tasted like they were out of a tin. The pollo pasta and Greek salad were slightly better but overall it was a very disappointing meal. The staff were pleasant and a manager was called who acknowledged that there had been many complaints about the lasagne - that many guests had said it had 'too little sauce' and was 'too dense'. A little odd then that they continue to market it as 'home-cooked lasagne'. Surely an Italian restaurant should be able to get a recipe for lasagne right! However, there was no attempt to rectify this - i.e. we were charged full price for both dishes. A complimentary coffee or desert would not have gone awry under the circumstances. It seems others have had good experiences at the restaurant but I would strong recommend that people avoid the lasagne. I would certainly not return given the way it...

We received friendly service from the staff and had garlic pizza as a starter, which was super yum! Also, I enjoyed two delicious pasta dishes with my partner.

I do feel that the place could do with some more live plants, too many artificial ones for my liking. Plants always contribute positively to any environment and add to the ambiance.

It's also a good indication to me that staff take good care of the space that they work in and treat it with the love and respect it deserves.

Ultimately, live plants are an all-around winner for everyone. Just a little something to...

Wow! Wow! Wow! This is what all pizzerias should strive to become! Thin crispy base, generous toppings and fresh ingredients. Even though I have no idea how to pronounce colcacchio I call this "my favourite pizzeria!" The pictures they post on social media platforms is EXACTLY what you expect it to taste like! I can't wait to try out the rest of the menu. We drove 45 minutes to salt rock to try out the pizzas and it was certainly well worth it! And now I feel like driving back there haha.
