Definitely not my favorite restaurant experience. We waited too long for the food to arrive and all we ordered was a simple breakfast. When it finally did, our waitress had forgotten our toast and we had to call her back. Paying was also another hassle that i had to wait for. This was my first time at JD so idk if it's a JD thing or just a bluff thing. If i do give JD another shot, it'll be at a different location.
Went back here twice recently. The first time I went for breakfast and the toast was cold - this was not the first time either and as such the butter wasnt melting over it. The second time was today and the service from my waitress was horrendous. It was not even packed as it was during the day on a weekday. I asked her to arrange a takeaway for me and she really took her own sweet time walking around the restaurant and smiling w everyone like she had forgotten. I think i mustve waited more than 5 minutes before i called the manager and asked him to do my takeaway give me the bill. Also apparently the sushi special is only applicable for sit-downs but no-where in store, online or anywhere that this is advertised did they indicate this. Love the sushi from here though. Its always delicious, affordable and gorgeous to look at. However, this will probably be my last time going there. There were also flies buzzing around everywhere - i noticed one lady had one of those fly away candles at her table. A fly even flew into my glass in landed on my food. Truly not impressed as all 3 of my visits have been...
Read moreSo today my family and I decided to go to John Dorys because we oftenly oftenly eat there and their service is always good but today something was quite off about this restaurant first we sat down and ordered our food and waited at least 30 minutes for our food to arrive.. when it finally did arrive the food was absolutely oily I picked up a piece of bacon and a whole lot of oil drips all over my plate my mother had ordered a cup of coffee it was served ice ice cold... I had a orange juice it was room temperature no ice and it wasn't even chilled. we made a complaint to the manager he did end up giving us a coupon when the manager had left our table we had asked for one glass of ice water for my mum which took another 10 minutes to arrive plus another 10 minutes for our bill we ended up having to go to the front table and paying for our meal because we still had errands to run but we've been in that restaurant for an hour and we barely had time to shop I definitely do not recommend going to this restaurant it was quite a poor experience if you looking for a fun family outing I suggest going to some other kind of restaurant because this restaurant is no better than the food you can make at home. if you want to eat John Dorys pour yourself a cup of oil and drink it. 😐 In the picture you'll see underneath the bacon how much oil is on that plate, the two oily eggs, the smashed up tomato and the smallest quantity of chips that the chef could...
Read moreHighly dissapointed as I eat here once or twice a month, You do get the days the establishment is busy and days its quiet, but yesterday evening they were pretty quiet so we decided to have dinner here.
We were given the menus and after waiting for about 20 minutes we rather decided we will eat elsewhere,as we were about to get out of our seats and leave a waitress saw us and came to take our order so we decided to stay back.
We ordered starters and to our great dissapointment there was no consistency from the previous days ago we ate here. The cheesy garlic roll has been reduced greatly in size for the same price of R29 which I never had a problem paying previously, also the "Cheesy garlic roll" had no taste of garlic in it just an ordinary roll with melted cheese on it, I could make a much tastier cheesy garlic roll that would leave guests licking the fingers. Our 2nd starter was peri peri chicken livers which we always enjoyed but for some reason the portion of livers was reduced and there was more sauce as if we were going to drink the sauce. The only good thing lastnight was the Bar one milkshake which took out a little dissapointment out of me.
This was the first bad experience at John Dory's on the bluff, I hope that the standard of service and food picks up however will still be deciding if we are going to...
