It was my first time to Kalamata Greek Restaurant. A friend of my cousin had done the booking and I was a bit sceptical and apprehensive ro start with. We normally frequent the other restaurants in the complex. We sat outside the restaurant waiting for some friends to join, who had nipped downstairs to watch a game on TV. Sadly we could not log in to the wifi. Whilst sat outside and ordering beverages, there was a large party of people with what seemed like a dozen kids dining. After they had eaten their meal, the music started up and the staff started clapping and dancing round the table with the guests joining in and then throwing down and breaking special plates. The kids and adults loved this. So we knew we were in for a treat. We then went and sat at our table and ordered beverages. After a while we ordered our starters and meals. The service was more than good. Food was very tasty and there was a slight mix up with our orders. I had ordered the Mousaka, but instead got a dish with pasta instead of Aubergine/ eggplant. The dishes are served in the same dishes, so I was not aware of what was what and started tucking in. Halfway through the meal, it was pointed out to me that I was eating someone elses dish. I did not have a problem with the mix up as I was savouring every morsel. The pirtion was just a bit small for my liking, but I would just order an extra starter and or desert. There were certainly no complaints from our table apart from the mix up of the dishes. Then came our turn to dance around the table and smash the special plates so not the table wear used to serve food. It was great fun. We will certainly be back.

The atmosphere was very chilled as we went on a quiet night, however we have been here on much busier nights when the Greek dancing and plates start smashing that is fun. We quiet atmosphere was a nice place after the busy week. Our waitress was super cool and very friendly. She got our orders spot on and was most helpful with the specials. I had the Gyro and I must admit it was a very very good one and had all those tastes if Greece but was not too filling but just enough. The dessert was very rich but so delicious. The whole place is decorated with selected items and touches if Greece. The owners have certainly taken time to bring some of Greece to you and you definately feel like you are in Greece which is very refreshing. Highly recommend taking the time and visiting. If you want a really fun time get a big group and ask for some Greek dancing and plate smashing and things will get very wild.

Probably one of my favourite restaurants in Durban right now. Food here is excellent. Really similar to the meals I've had in Greece, you can see the owners pay close attention to detail. If you can't get into this one, you can try the takeaway option in the Barn called Little Kalamata. Been here a few times when it was really quite since I visited during off-peak hours. Service was always really good. I've tried getting in during the peak hours but it is always full. We were told a few months back that we can't make reservations over the phone but I'm not sure if that's still the case. I wish they had an online process to book a reservation based on how difficult it can be to get a seat.

What a wonderful experience we had at the new Kalamata Westown last night. From the wonderful welcome, great service, amazing food and incredibly attentive host to the beautiful decor and lighting, it was just a perfect family dinner to celebrate my sons birthday. As recommended, we tried a variety of starters to share, which were all delicious, with the standout favourites being the Halloumi Fries, Fried Calamari, Village Bread and both the Skorthalia and Tarama dips (basically everything we ordered). For mains we also sampled each other's meals, my son and I had the Lamb Souvla with Roast Potatoes, which was ridiculously tasty, we both agreed they were the best lamb chops we've ever had. My other son had the Pork Neck Souvla which was also incredible and he devoured it. Hubby had the Lamb Gyro Pita and we all agreed we'd be back for our own one, again, the best we've tasted anywhere. We were gifted bowls of Tsatziki and Tirokafteri dips to go with our mains and they complimented them perfectly. The cocktails were also really good. The desserts looked amazing, but alas, we were too full to try any, this time but we'll most definitely be back. We also found everything to be really well priced and we're pleasantly surprised when the bill came. We left feeling more than satisfied, full but not bloated, like we'd eaten clean, even though we indulged in bread and potatoes. Highly recommend Kalamata Kouzina to anyone who enjoys excellent food. PS Hubby raved about the menu, it was big enough to read easily (he says that's...

Sadly NOT a good experience on Sat 23 Nov 24. We love Moussaka and with Kalamata being an 'authentic' Greek restaurant we decided to go there. We were actually so excited! The dish was nothing short of a disappointment swimming in oil with hardly a touch of meat and looked and tasted nothing like previous Moussaka dishes we have enjoyed. The first impression was that these guys look like they are cutting corners! But we decided to persevere. Our BIG salad for 2 arrived in a SMALL bowl with 95% tomatoes and a few slices of cucumber. The little feta that was in the bowl was crumbled - once again "cutting corners" . We had to ASK for onion. The actual Managers feedback via a "Manager" was that the Moussaka recipe was a family recipe used throughout the years and that there was nothing they could do about it! Feeble!! They offered us an alternative dish to see what they are about, naturally we declined! Isn't Moussaka an authentic Greek dish? Sadly we will never go there again and won't be recommending anyone to this restaurant. They did try to redeem themselves by bringing us a few sweet treats when we asked for the bill. All in all, a very expensive restaurant, at least the decor was lovely. Sorry Kalamata, there are way better Greek restaurants out there in KZN that you could learn from, especially when...
