Daylight Robbery!
I ordered 2 Prawn Biryanis. It was pretty ordinary. Nothing to rant and rave about. I guess being Indian, I expected more from the dish. Maybe if I were not Indian, then the dish would have blown my mind. I can't say I did not like it,. because it's similar to how we cook at home. But it was not something more than what we could have made at home.
While the taste was okay. The serving is what I did not like at all. I had about 5/6 very small prawns, drowned in a big heaped plate of rice. I could only manage to eat quarter plate rice with the amount of prawns I had. After the prawns was finished, I was left with so much rice, that I was wondering if I should have ordered prawns on the side.
R125 for 5/6 tiny prawns and 1 big plate of rice, for a Biryani, is NOT WORTH IT. If you want to serve this to Indians, then you are out of your mind!!!!!!! We can cook a better Biryani chow at home packed with prawns!!. Why should I as an Indian, but from you??? Sell this to the White people, they...

Then I went to the restaurant looking forward to having trotters n rice. Wat a disaster. I waited almost 45 minutes. The waiter brings the curry with roti. Then he went to exchange for rice. Another 10 minutes. Then I got up to leave. Brian comes up n tries to rectify the situation. By then the rice arrives n the curry is cold due to aircon being to high. Then Brian says give him 1 minute. He puts it in the microwave . After 5 minutes he sends the food. I dish a little n oh my God. The trotters is hard. Water has been added to the curry n it was salty. Enough is enough. I got up n left. Their service is pathetic. Their food is terrible. Their service n food quality drove me away to...
Read moreThis restaurant was suggested to us by some friends in durban and I must say it was the best suggestion ever. The restaurant is situated on the rooftop of the mall in reservoir hills which has ample parking right outside the restaurant. Swaadisht not only serves Eastern cuisine like tikka and paneer but also has some chinese dishes on the menu. I had the chicken tikka and chose medium for my heat level. My friends had the butter chicken and a paneer dish. The food arrived and I was over the moon with my meal. Everything was freshly prepared and served hot. The flavours of each dish was absolutely divine! This is definitely one of the best chicken tikka that I have had in durban and will definitely be back again. The prices are really reasonable considering the quality...
