I recently visited Punjab Express, and I have to say, I was thoroughly impressed with the entire experience! From the moment I walked in, I noticed how exceptionally clean and well-organized the space was. It's so refreshing to step into a restaurant where you can immediately see the care and attention they put into maintaining a spotless environment. The floors, tables, and even the serving areas were pristine, which made me feel comfortable and confident about dining there. Hygiene is clearly a top priority for Punjab Express, and it shows.
Now, let’s talk about the food—absolutely amazing! The flavors at Punjab Express are rich, authentic, and bursting with the kind of taste you expect from true Indian cuisine. Whether you're craving flavorful curries, fresh naan, or perfectly spiced biryani, their menu has something for everyone. The ingredients were fresh and the dishes were prepared with such care that you can really taste the love and expertise in every bite. The portions were generous, and the food arrived hot, which added to the overall enjoyment. I especially loved how each dish was perfectly balanced with spices, making every mouthful a real treat without being overwhelming.
Beyond the food, the service at Punjab Express was just as impressive. The staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with a smile, and they made sure to check in on my needs throughout my visit. The team was also very knowledgeable about the menu and offered helpful suggestions when I was trying to decide what to order. My meal was prepared and served quickly, but despite the speed, nothing about the quality was compromised. The service was efficient without feeling rushed, which made the experience even better.
The atmosphere at Punjab Express was also worth mentioning. It was cozy, inviting, and perfect for either a quick bite or a relaxed meal. Whether you're dining in or grabbing some take-away, the environment feels welcoming and comfortable, making it a great place to visit with friends, family, or even for a solo meal.
In summary, Punjab Express is a top-tier restaurant that delivers on all fronts—delicious, authentic food, exceptional service, and a clean, welcoming atmosphere. It's the kind of place where you feel truly cared for as a customer, and the quality of the food will keep you coming back for more. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience with the best of Indian cuisine. I will definitely be...
Read moreThis was my 2nd visit for my wife and I, 1st time was great that's why we came back but on our visit this evening we left extremely dissatisfied due to being made to feel embarrased as a customer.
Firstly on arrival, after 10mins of waiting, I had to put my hand up to ask if we can order drinks. We were unaware it was buffet night and enquired with our waitress if it was ok if we order 1 buffet (for variety of flavours) and what we came there for, which was the Tandoori Chicken. She said it was ok and we placed our order. So we ordered 2 x main meals.
I went to dish a plate (conservatively), came to sit down and my wife and I shared the tastings. Can't complain about the food.
After about 5mins a waiter/ or manager came to tell us that it's not allowed to share the buffet plate, as he was telling us, I could see the other patrons looking at us and 'talking', like we tried to milk the special. We were made to feel embarrased and extremely frustrated coz our waitress didn't in fact understand what we actually were asking befor we ordered. If we had known, we would not have taken the buffet. Coz sharing as a couple is what we do always and besides we came specifically for the tandoori and the rogan Josh. Anyway. The manner in which we were told is also what bothered us.
Picture this. My wife and I order 2 mains meals. I'm enjoying my meal while she waits for hers but I cannot even give her a taste of my food. But when her meal arrives it's then allowed for ONLY me to taste her food. it's just not practical.
Also, empty cans and glasses were left on the table throughout our dinner, only cleared when paying. Waitress seemed extremely tired and lacked energy. It just seemed like everything was a drag for her.
Long short. Won't be...

Fellow seekers of truth—rejoice! For I have discovered the culmination of this lifelong odyssey at Punjab Express in Lakeside. Here lies the ambrosia that generations have sought but few have found—the finest curry sanctuary in all South Africa.
