I pass the Tin Roof eatery in Hartebeespoortdam regularly as it is in my hood but have not gone in. Today we were looking for a place with a kiddies play area and to sit outside in the winter sun. We got both...and we were immediately struck by the friendliness of the staff...helpful and efficient...and this makes such a lovely difference to the feel of a place. Tables have a lovely vantage point of the play area so you don't have to keep getting up to check but instead you can enjoy sipping on your glass of wine ( which is value for money at R170 a bottle for a decent Chenin Blanc) in the relaxing atmosphere. Not really hungry we settled for pizzas drawn by their boast of their signature artisan neapolitan pizzas being "the best in town"...maybe a bit too boastful, but then again who says you mustn't talk up what you selling... but I did enjoy the pizza crust...and would have liked some fresh chillies. More than happy to make another turn here, soon, to enjoy other dishes...

I’m never setting foot at that place again! The most terrible service I’ve ever seen! We got there n sat on a dirty table, waited and desperately called a waiter to clean the table who just looked at us like we don’t matter! He comes after almost 30 minutes, cleans the table, leaves us with menus and we had to literally beg to be served! We then ordered a simple cake and tea! They took so long to bring it! In fact they brought the tea first! And after 10 minutes I asked “are we ever going to get the cake” some lady (waitress) tells me they bringing it! And after a few minutes I just asked for the bill! Paid for the tea only and we left! The manager tried convincing us that we must wait a bit longer coz they cutting the cake! I was having non of it! Their service is just bad! The tea was even too diluted! I give this place a 0/10…. Terrible!...

If you're cruising through Haarties and don’t stop at Tin Roof… wyd? We made a cheeky little pit stop here on our girls' weekend getaway, and let’s just say — it might’ve been the best detour we’ve ever taken.

Let’s talk pizza. 12/10. No, seriously. Crispy base, generous toppings, that perfect cheese pull — it's the kind of pizza that makes you want to write a love song.

Cocktails? Also 12/10. Dangerously delicious. The kind that makes you consider ordering two... okay, fine, three.

And then there’s Mbali, the real MVP. Service? Flawless. She saw every kid, every adult, every half-spilled drink, every dramatic napkin drop — and handled it all like an absolute queen.

Vibe? Easy-breezy with a dash of sass. Food? Fire. Will we be back? Try and stop us.

Catch us there again on our next road trip — Tin Roof, you’ve officially made the...

Chose to celebrate my birthday here because the photographs and reviews online were incredible. It did not disappoint! We had a table of 14 adults and 4 children and were able to enjoy the best of both worlds - adults could enjoy the beautiful setting with good food and delicious cocktails, while the kids could move around freely and had a blast in the shaded play area. Tammy was exceptional at arranging a lovely table set up. Leading up to the day, she contacted us to ask how she could help and went out of her way to stay in touch even though we were in an area with bad cell-reception. Our waitress, Ntsaki was so attentive, always available and so so friendly. All my guests had an amazing time and we will most certainly be visiting again!

I generally liked the place, I've some reservation about the food. The snail starter was beautiful 😍, the sauce on it was excellent, however the brown bread there didn't make sense, maybe toasted or even if it was garlic bread would have made the meal beyond delicious . My only reservation would be on the calamari and pizza, I found the dough a little too doughy and bready that made me slightly bloated. The veges and slap chips though were very delicious 😋😋, I loved those. The waiter assisted in every manner possible and was attentive. There are other small stores there for Biltong, a spa, and other shops as well
