We were a party of 7 at JD 5 yesterday evening for the exclusive foodaholic evening. Started with a blueberry salad with dried Cranberries feta which was delightfully soft and creamy parmesan and a blue cheese dressing which was not overpowering. Super starter which was refreshing and quantity was perfect. It was paired with Annabelle cuvee rose semi sweet bubbly. I would have preferred to have the choice of a dry Brut bubbly. The teriyaki grilled chicken slider was flavoursome the chicken moist and not overcooked and the amount was perfect for a five-course meal. It was paired with a Stella Artois. Peach tart with brie prosciutto and mascarpone what a Picture Perfect presentation. Could have been used in a cookbook. Yummy. Paired with durbanville Hills chardonnay. Black and aubergine with whipped Danish feta and harissa oil was flavoursome. Again artfully presented. Paired with a kwv Shiraz. Service was excellent and Anton John Wayne and Nicholas and bernald made one...

Amazing is one of the many words I would use to describe JD5. We had my mother’s 50th birthday there and JD5 really made it a birthday we would be talking about for years to come. The owner, Bernard, was so helpful with everything. I made him mad days leading up to the event about changes I would like to make and questions I had. He answered everything with more patience than I would have had. Anton, our waiter, always puts a smile on our faces. He was excellent and funny and he really made our night even better with his presence alone. The food was exceptional. Ewaldt and Loren also had a huge part in making our night special!
