Cost to overall experience was not worth it.
Some context. My girlfriend and I booked a preset valentine's day dinner. All seemed relatively alright with the booking, but looks can be deceiving. In this case, they were.
We arrived at the restaurant, and diligently waited to be seated (like the sign told us to), to be greeted by a disenfranchised man in a booth. He looked for our booking with a sombre look on his face, and the searching capability of a Pentium PC. He ushered us to the table of complimentary drinks, where I enquired about non-alcoholic options. Only for another manager to pleasantly direct me. He thereafter walked us to our table and left with his sombre mood.
Bear in mind that we booked on the basis that we were told there is a seated smoking section. This was a complete deception. We were disappointed to discover that they do not have such a thing. Only sections outside you can stand and smoke. As a smoker, especially at their prices, I personally prefer to be in a seated smoking section. Each to their own.
We resigned ourselves to the fact that this meal is going to be prompt and without comfort.
As we waited to eventually be served, we glanced around the room to see no interest in our lost complexion. Eventually, a lovely server came to help us. Her chipper attitude seemingly saved our dinner, and she made the evening far better than it proved to be prior.
The food, of course, was delicious. With the exception of the few meats that I personally didn't like, but it's a matter of the meat, nothing else.
Once our meal came to an end, we got the bill, and noted that they hadn't credited us for the pre-payment made on the meal. We enquired with our waitress, who spoke to management, only to be required to ask us to email the proof again. I find this part interesting, because we received a mail from them confirming payment.
It seems to me that this restaurant really didn't give its all for this event. In fact, I may have had a more valentine's feeling from a box of chocolates and binge watching TV.
Both my girlfriend and I have been ill today, and we strongly believe it was from this disastrous event.
Definitely won't be...
Read moreWhether you are a meat lover or not, when you visit South Africa, don't miss the opportunity to have a wonderful lunch at this carnivore restaurant, feel the exotic atmosphere and environment, and try the unique African cooking taste. Whether we like it or not, whether we have ever been eaten it or not, if we are lucky, we may have the chance to taste some of the world's protected wildlife that we may never have seen or heard of before, such as crocodiles, ostrich, Impala, zebra, wild deer and kudu. This will not let us waste our time here, at least the trip is worth the valuable experience. When dining in the restaurant, we can see with our own eyes a large fire place, in which several animal legs and some what are being roasted. The moment when the restaurant waiter will take a roasted animal leg in his hand and come to us and cut it piece by piece on our plate for us to enjoy, what an exciting feeling it will be, this is a fantastic meal with a special good food experience that we could have had in a real African venue! It really is a memorable lunch in South Africa. Outside the restaurant around entrance, there is someone showing a traditional African folk dance with full energic in their traditional costume. On the dining table, we can also see extra-large, round, black, hard bread as big as a medium size rice plate, and we don’t know how to eat it. A few naughty fellow teammates threw it around on the table for fun. This bread may also be a bit like a special symbol of African women, both round and big!🤭 What a wonderful close-up of an African carnivore restaurant ! It is a fantastic, exciting, exotic entertainment and valuable experience for us along in our lives. All in all, this trip is really a wonderful experience of us in South Africa. You may try it...
Read moreI had high expectations for Carnivore Restaurant, but unfortunately, the experience was nothing short of disappointing. From the moment we sat down, the service was slow, inattentive, and far below what one would expect from a restaurant of this caliber.
Despite the restaurant’s concept of serving meats at the table, we were left waiting for long periods without being offered any. We had to repeatedly flag down the waiters, and even then, it felt like we were being ignored. The sides took forever to arrive. It was frustrating to have to chase down basic service at every step. On the other hand we had to sit and watch the table next to us being served repeatedly with no problems.
The most upsetting part was when the waiter took our dessert orders but only brought out a few, completely forgetting the rest of the table—including the birthday girl. How do you honestly take the time to take everyone’s orders and not bring them out? Let alone tell us that you’re knocking off work! It was shocking how little care was given to ensuring everyone was served. For a place that should be experienced in handling large groups, their lack of patience and effort was unacceptable.
For the amount of money paid, this was far from a premium dining experience. The lack of service, the delays, and the overall disregard for our group left a terrible first impression. I wouldn’t recommend Carnivore to anyone expecting good service—especially if you’re celebrating a...
