The Verandah — Restaurant in Mogale City Local Municipality

Should there be an option for zero stars...thát would have been the preferred option. We were six patrons. We waited 42 minutes before our food was served. Three ordered the Pork Chops, two the Rump and one Smoked Salmon and Avo Salad. The Pork chops were inedible. No seasoning, deep fried in oil. ....not pan fried as would be expected Bland....even with the so called apple chutney and mustard infused mashed potatoes. (Which was edible but stodgy) The Salmon and Avo Salad looked beautiful and was enjoyed by our guest....so was the Rump Steak, but even a request for vegetables instead of potato chips were denied. On receiving the Bill for R1502, I felt that our Hostess, was quite generous(and Álways leaves gratuity between 15 and 20%,) decided to round it off to R1600, because of poor service and very disappointing cuisine on 50% of food served. The Waitron then pointed out that tables of more than 5 customers are expected to pay at least 10% gratuity. She then gave her R100 cash, besides R98 tip, and we left immediately. Shame on you, Verandah Management!!! Word spreads fast!!! We have been Loyal supporters from the day you opened...but you will never...

The place was busy, that means that people love the place... Waiter a bit of a shocker.. I took my time to decide what I wanted for lunch, and the waiter made a comment by stating seen that you are taking your time to decide. Why not start at the top of the menu... wow! My wife was still sitting comfortably, and then the chair broke, grateful she did not hurt herself... when we finally got our food and funny enough, my Son in law who placed his order 1st got his food last and the sides arrived late, he has almost finished his food then the one side arrived and the other side not at all... When we questioned the side, the waiter had a cheek by saying that we could negotiate with the desert. Do not want to negotiate. Give me what is on the menu or let us know in advance that certain things are not available...

That has put us off completely....

Attitude of a waiter / staff member plays a big role in any...

Dear Verandah, your 40 seater is not your only customer. Please be fair and kind to other patrons and warn them of delays as to give us the option to stay or not. 45 min for a starter when you have hungry kids and all the other tables around you irate that they have been waiting 2hours for a meal is not the way you want to spend your sunday afternoon. When we did finally get out starters we couldn't even eat them. Really not cool or fair to your customers. I get that things happen but you were definitely aware that you were spinning and couldn't handle any more walkin patorns. Next time do the right thing and...
