I recently dined at The Farmer’s Fork Restaurant in Winterton, Drakensberg, and I’ve got some thoughts to share. The food and drinks were fantastic—honestly, a real highlight. The tapas were a standout, with chili poppers, that were bursting with flavor and clearly made with fresh ingredients. The cappuccino was refreshing, and well-priced. We decided to have the chicken schnitzel and it was tasty, hand cut chips always make or break a meal for me. Also, the tomato relish was excellent. I loved the variety, from Asian-inspired dishes to hearty South African classics, and everything looked as good as it tasted. The owner, Johan, was super welcoming, chatting with us and making the experience feel personal. The outdoor setting with those jaw-dropping Drakensberg mountain views was a bonus, perfect for soaking in the Champagne Valley vibe. That said, the indoor seating was a bit of a letdown. It felt dark and eerie, almost like it didn’t match the warm, vibrant energy of the food and service. The lack of windows made it feel closed off, and I couldn’t shake the gloomy vibe while sitting inside. We opted to choosing the outdoor tables to enjoy the scenery. Service was generally great, though I heard some folks mention slow waits, which didn’t hit me this time but could be something to watch for. All in all, I’d recommend The Farmer’s Fork for the incredible food and drinks, but stick to the patio for the...
Read moreAfter a strenuous hike through the breathtaking Drakensburg, our hunger led us to the farmers fork, a haven for famished adventurers. We indulged in a plethora of tantalizing dishes that mirrored the region's commitment to fresh, locally-sourced ingredients.
Our feast began with crispy Arancini, savory halloumi, and fiery jalapeño poppers, each bite bursting with flavour and warmth. Next up, the chicken tacos, with their succulent meat and vibrant toppings, transported us to culinary bliss.
The highlight of our meal was undoubtedly the tender pork belly, perfectly crisped and accompanied by delectable sides. The chicken cashew nut curry was a symphony of spices, leaving our taste buds dancing with delight.
Despite our eyes being bigger than our stomachs, we couldn't resist the temptation to savour every last morsel. Our departure was marked by contented sighs and slightly wobbly steps, a testament to the sheer satisfaction Farmers fork delivered.
In conclusion, Farmers fork is a culinary gem nestled in the heart of the Drakensburg, where impeccable dishes and warm hospitality converge. We left with full bellies and fond memories, already planning our next visit to this...
Read moreWe have eaten there for the last three days when we stayed in the area.
Very nice restaurant and a cool owner. Service was also ok and really special and funny and we got a few reccomendations for the area as well. They also have two nice cats around.
First day we ate the chicken curry, a cheese burger and a salad and everything tasted quite good.
The next day we made a travel trough the tapas, which were excellent as well.

On the third day we tried the Pizza Italian and a Pizza Margeritha. The Pizza is small in diameter but with a large edge.
They were also very tasty, espacially the dried tomatoes.
We read a few reviews which criticized the speed from order to receiving the food. We got warned in advance that everything will be prepared fresh and there is also a hint within the menu. So don‘t go there if you are really in a hurry.
Otherwise we can clearly recommend this nice, little and special place. Thank you Johan and team for your hospitality...
