We celebrated a 21st and the prices of everything was just ridiculous. We had conversations about the reservations and told them that we would have a photographer and all once we got there we were told we can't take pictures on their premises and they charged us R250 per person to take a picture in the area where we were celebrating a birthday. The food was okay but it was not worth the price AT ALL. We brought our own birthday cake and they told us while we were about to cut the cake that it would be an extra fee if we want to cut and eat our own cake. This was my first their as well as the guests first time and all of them were very unimpressed with this places ridiculous prices and how they literally charge you for everything. The venue and the restaurant is really lovely but truthfully with my experience there I will not recommend this place to anyone. The 3 times I spoke with this people on the phone they left out all these details about all these extra fees that was so unnecessary, honestly if I had known I would not have celebrated my 21st...
Read moreWe ordered the starter muscles at R105, which was okay but not worth the value. For mains, we ordered the "seafood platter for one" at R325. We also ordered the fish and chips at R110 which was supposed to come with a micro salad, but that was never seen. In fact, no greens anywhere. Overall, the food was slightly below average for the price. We brought our own fine wine, for which we paid R60 corkage. We ordered a dom pedro, which according to the menu was R65. But when we received the bill, they charged us R65 for the "dom pedro base" and a further R80 for the alcohol in the dom pedro. They amended the R80 after we complained about a R145 dom pedro. Suffice to say, our total bill was R900 for just two people, which we don't mind paying if it's worth it.... but this was not. Expensive and beautiful venue but average food and service for an upmarket...
Read moreA lovely surprise in a town with little to offer. The restaurant and bar are really very outstanding, well kept and stylishly decorated. I have to admit that we felt under dressed in our travelling clothes of shorts and slops but were well received and given impeccable service non the less. The bar is stocked with a good list of classic drinks and cocktails and menu is South Africanly traditional, meaning that there are no grand surprises on it. The one surprise was the ½kg west coast mussels in a Thai green curry inspired sauce and this is what we ordered, which was simply excellent. The entire dish was fresh, from the mussels to the chilli in the sauce. We will gladly be making this a...
