The Bluebird Café is a beautiful restaurant, with a great outdoor play area for the kids. This started our breakfast on a very positive note, and although my wife enjoyed her Omega Bash, this is unfortunately where the positives end. While the staff were friendly, they were incredibly slow and inattentive (the restaurant was not very busy). I ordered the french toast with added bacon, only to be immediately told they were out of berry compote and would substitute it with syrup, which I was fine with. When our food arrived, we didn't even have cutlery, and my "french toast" was clearly a kiddie's meal. I sent it back and waited while my family ate. When my proper meal eventually arrived, the bacon was missing. At that point, I just told them to forget it. I was ready to give a 2-star rating, but our waiter did make up for it by offering a free coffee, which I appreciated. However, their explanation of running out of eggs during breakfast service, which caused the confusion, especially when the restaurant wasn't even busy, is concerning. The Bluebird Café has so much potential, and this was a complete missed opportunity. Their service issues are unacceptable, and with so many other great breakfast spots nearby, I'm not sure if...

This place was disappointing, mostly because it could be so nice… we’ve been wanting to visit because it looks so nice from the outside, and when we arrived we absolutely loved how it was inside as well. The building is stunning. The food was actually mostly good, except for an incredibly dry croissant and a messed up order - which was at least rectified. The problem is the waiting time, we waited absolutely forever to get our food, it’s just not acceptable to wait so very long. It wasn’t even a busy day, there were 3 tables. We could see they were understaffed and the staff were running chaotically from one side of the restaurant to the other. Please work on the organization and speed to make this place better. It could be so nice… but we won’t be back...

If you understand the metaphor “ a diamond in the rough” you will have a pretty good understanding of what I think of the Bluebird Café. On arrival the interior and outdoor seating areas are pristine. The employees are well trained and provide satisfactory service without any complications.

Then coming to food, the Café is really well priced. Serving quality portions with prices that don’t break the bank really makes this place ideal for a Coffee stop on my rides. All these factors would have given this Café almost full marks. But it’s the location which is its one flaw. The location is not bad but it’s not the best plot by the R44, it’s busy. And this flaw makes the shop not as atmospheric as it truly can be.

The place had a very nice view from all angles so you wouldn't have a seat that didn't have a nice view. Really friendly waiters that were super attentive to your needs. The only thing that was a little off putting was the exorbitant prices. You wouldn't easily find anything too nice for under R100, unless you come for a quick desert and a milkshake. Other than that, the food was good, not really anything to write home about but good nonetheless; the carrot cake was a little dry and the surprise cheesecake didn't really surprise me that much, the straws were a bit too thin for the milkshakes they served but I managed.
