Extremely Disappointing Experience at Bossa Stellenbosch
We were a group of four and had one of the worst dining experiences we've ever had. Three of our meals arrived, but the fourth— a pizza—did not. There was a mix-up in the kitchen: the guest specifically requested no onions, but the pizza came with onions. The waiter apologized and said they would make a new one, and that the manager would come speak to us shortly.
By the time the replacement pizza arrived, the rest of us had almost finished eating—yet still no sign of the manager. When he eventually showed up, his approach was far from professional. Instead of apologizing or trying to resolve the situation, he came with an attitude, asking us, "So what do you want me to do?" We told him that, as the manager, it was his job to offer a solution. After some back and forth, we suggested not paying for the pizza, to which he reluctantly agreed, and offered a round of drinks as well.
Unfortunately, the poor service continued. Our original waiter never returned to our table and we were assigned a new one. The original waiter, however, kept glaring at our table, shaking his head and even laughing from a distance—completely unprofessional behavior.
To make matters worse, the drinks we were offered were subpar. There was no Jameson available, the double whisky was watered down, the gin didn’t include strawberries as advertised, and the Dom Pedro lacked chocolate.
When we finally asked for the bill, the pizza—which the manager had agreed would be free—was still included. When we pointed it out, the manager again came with attitude, claiming he never said the pizza would be free. The more we tried to explain, the more defensive he became. Eventually, after an unnecessary argument, he agreed to remove it.
Overall, we left feeling extremely disappointed. The lack of accountability, poor customer service from both the waiter and manager, and the overall handling of the situation made for a terrible experience. We hope they take this feedback seriously to improve how they treat...
Read moreI live very close to Bossa and often go there for breakfast or burgers on a Monday night. On Saturday, I was a bit disappointed with the service received. After being seated, we were told that its quite busy and we might have to wait long. I was a bit shocked as I have never been told that I will wait even on busy Monday nights. Nevertheless we waited. A group entered after us and got seated. We order coffee and drinks and waited 27 minutes for our drinks, and only received it after I flagged down a waitress, after I saw the group that entered after us received their drinks. My husband was facing the bar area, and he order a mimosa, which on the menu reads "250ml wine with juice". We watched him carefully filling other glasses with wine, measuring and then adding the juice. With my order, he first filled the glass halfway with juice and than added a dash of wine. I felt like we were robbed, lied to. The food than came 5 minutes after that, cold, eggs not what we wanted and what was supposed to be 3 bacon pieces, were two, one of the two was cut in half. I have never received such poor service from Bossa ever. When it was time to pay, the waiter brought our bill, and asked is we paying with a card but then gave the machine to the waitress to process the payment, as if to say he cannot face us. We were going to go back there yesterday for burgers but decided not to, perhaps I need a break from Bossa for now as it seems like they have become very arrogant and neverminded. I used to rate you guys very high, but this experience is not...
Read moreI don’t normally leave reviews, but the experience we had here was shocking. My husband ordered a cheeseburger and I ordered the Greek salad plus grilled chicken. When our food arrived, the chicken on my salad was clearly still raw and pieces were translucent. This is a big problem... How can you not check the chicken before you put it on someone’s plate?! When we flagged down our waiter I had to explain myself multiple times that the chicken was raw and he just looked at me not knowing what to do. I said, I cannot eat raw chicken as it will make me very ill. He went off to the kitchen and then came back very quickly to say I would have a new salad (and chicken) in minutes. This concerned me and I felt the need to double check with my waiter that they were making a fresh salad and not using the one they have just taken away heating up the chicken that was on my plate. He didn’t seem to understand the importance of making a fresh salad. Obviously if raw meat has touched other fresh foods, this would cross contaminate and still cause food poisoning. When my salad finally arrived, my husband had finished his dinner. Looking at my salad it honestly looked like they had dumped my previous one in a new bowl. It was a mess and all the toppings (including the dressing I’d put on it) at the bottom of the bowl.
I’ve already had food poisoning on this trip so I’m pretty careful about checking my food before I eat it.
If you eat here... check your food has been...
