Franschhoek Kitchen at Holden Manz Wine Estate — Restaurant in Stellenbosch Local Municipality

I have to admit I was rather disappointed by our picnic at Holden Manz (provided by the Kitchens). The food was not that special considering the price and honestly it was annoying that we had 3 small bread rolls for 7 people. Also, although the venue by the river was quite scenic (although you appear to be by a disused stream overlooked by neighboring houses) I was not impressed at having to carry our heavy baskets through the vineyard in the sun to the picnic spot. Much of the food was provided in plastic containers and as there was no rubbish bin we had to carry everything back again. Overall definitely not worth the money...

Very mixed feelings about the place. Neil who made our booking for Christmas Day is very attentive and gives great customer service. The food was ok’ish and the staff is very friendly, but upon entering it immediately stood out that neither the staff shirts, nor the table cloths were washed or ironed. The dirty and crinkly table clothes were topped by some stained glasses which we had to send back. The wine is fantastic and the staff friendly, but the restaurant needs better...

We passed by on a nostalgic trip for some late lunch, as I had stayed at the Manor in 2013. We had Oysters, however they where so small, that any other restaurant would have chucked them and either said sorry we don't have oysters or continued for a decent sice. The ribeye was eatable but no where near medium rare as requested. With so many options in Franshhoek and this not a cheap option, it really needs...
