This weekend we went for lunch on the deck for a third time. The view always stays breathtakingly beautiful, tranquil and relaxing.
The menu changes ever so often and while we were hoping for their famous fish and chips, we were not disappointed that it was not on the menu this time. Their chicken burger was amazing, I jokingly called it, healthy KFC- the chicken was crispy, yet soft on the inside and perfectly cooked, the chips where triple fried to perfection.
They honestly never disappoint with their amazing meals and ambiance.
A tip; go early (they open at 11), we were there at 11 and got the best table and fast service. They start getting very busy at about 12, which means your seat might not be at the edge of the deck and your food might take a bit longer, still worth the wait.
Their prices range between R120-R150 per meal, portions are generous, and all ingredients are fresh.
100% recommend visiting them on a day the weather is nice.
Bonus: Go for a decadent wine and chocolate tasting next door (on the premises) at Hidden Valley as a dessert option. The deck does not offer dessert, but we definitely never have space for anything...
Read moreI'm not one easily to complain but The Deck at Hidden valley was such a bad experience for us. They are very expensive, you can't make a booking so all the tables were full and we didn't want to sit on lawn of grass (The other option) so we waited almost an hour for a table to clear. When you want to order food or even ask the waiter something they seemed to be all over the place and under so much pressure to get to everyone. The wine is way too expensive that we got (Which was nice on a sunny day). The food was also very expensive for what you get and what we saw at the time so we didn't order any. People were also standing around not sure what to do and in the way of everyone else so there was no direction. It's a shame for the drive to there we didn't expect so many negative things. Only real positive thing I took away from this was the view over the little dam next to the deck, the buildings architecture and the art. My recommendation is that they get a bit more organized on the deck as I was not the only customer on the day that...
Read moreIn summary my experience was great location, appalling service & overpriced cafeteria food. 12:45pm and sold out of something as simple as burger patties. I would have tried their other 2 lunch options of fried calamari & oven chips or undercooked smoked chicken wings (I’m not kidding most people at our table threw them in the bin) & chips but a bunless burger appeared to be the only gluten-free option. This is after being told that the burger patty would need to be served with a bun as the chef has very high standards & wouldn’t allow the bun to be removed due to a gluten intolerance. After finding the manager at Overture he said that the patties would be there in 30 minutes as they were on the way from Stellenbosch. He offered my son a plate of chips in compensation as he also can’t eat gluten. Everyone finished their meals and an hour later we got up to leave as the patties arrived. I was asked if I still wanted to pay for a burger & I declined and bought a much more impressive salad from the Spar on...
