….We decided to come here to celebrate my wife’s birthday and boy was it the right choice we made. Seeing that it was for dinner we arrived just as the winter sun was setting, wow what an amazing romantic setting it created. A once in a life time experience. The restaurant was empty just as we like it to be. We found that all the Covid-19 protocols were still in place, hand-spray, temperature check and the info-form to be filled out. So assuring! Our host for the evening was Patrick and was he a super-star, friend-lii, on the ball and very obliging as it was a birthday celebration he made it very special. First-lii we received 3 glasses of Durbanville-Hills “Rose’” bubbly on the house, next still on the house also we got to savour the young “Pinotage” syphoned straight from the barrel that sets on its side right on the restaurant floor and the freebies did not end there my wife received a bottle of a brand-new release “Light-Lively” CHENIN-BLANC. Indeed a birthday to remember. We became aware immediate-lii that the MENU has also changed since our last visit. The new menu card offers 7 staters to choose from such as Oysters, salads, chowder, mushrooms, salmon, pork-belly and duck. We ordered a bottle of D-H “Pinotage” 2019 to start off with and our starters were: - 1. Pork-Belly Collectors Pinotage (burnt apple-puree, raisin chutney & crisp-ii shallot-rings) 2. 3 x Drunken Oysters (Served with a shot of Bains-Whiskey & Ginger-Syrup) Both choices were exceptional tastii and delicious! The Drunken Oysters was a total new escapade for me in the Oyster consumption game, Mmmmmm-h! The Mains on offer had a selection of 6 dishes: - Tofu, Quinoa. Chicken, Fish, Beef-Fillet and Venison. We went for: - 1. Fish Collectors Chardonnay (masala-spice, buttered baby-potatoes, cucumber raita and Asian-slaw) 2. Beef Fillet Collectors Cabernet Sauvignon (biltong dusted fillet, caramelised onion mousse, pumpkin-fritters, crisp-ii onions and baby-potatoes, jus. 3. Venison Collectors Shiraz (Springbok!) (skewered with apricots, onions, spiced baby-potatoes, veg-puree, baby carrots, jus. All three mails were outstanding as they delivered explicit unique taste, the fish light-lii brushed with masala left the palate bedazzled. The meats were well prepared and served as ordered. The Venison (Springbok) was like butter melting in your mouth. The Desserts on the menu was a choice of 4, we ordered: - 1. Profiteroles Honeybee (lemon cream, caramelised white chocolate crumb, dark chocolate and honeycomb ice cream) 2. Pumpkin-Cake / Vegan / Honeybee (coconut chantilly, caramel, spiced pecan nut crumb, honeycomb) 3. Chocolate / D-H Merlot Brandy (brandy snap, dulce de leche mousse, chocolate biscuit crumb, chocolate sticks, miso caramel, dark chocolate mousse). What an awesome time we spent here where the spectacular scenery of the setting sun, good wine, delicious foods and even better company. We will always recommend this outstanding classy venue where the service provided is top-notch……NB! They have free guest WiFi (just ask for the Password from the waiters) Also worth mentioning is the fact that when patrons leave the stuff is ready to sanitise the vacated tables……

We had an absolutely wonderful evening at Tangram Restaurant at Durbanville Hills Winery. Everything from the setting to the food and service was exceptional — a truly five-star experience that exceeded expectations. We were a group of nine guests, and we all thoroughly enjoyed the evening. We had a few bottles of their Collector’s Reserve Castle of Good Hope Cabernet Sauvignon 2023, which was absolutely brilliant — beautifully balanced and full of character. We even bought an additional two bottles as gifts, it was that impressive. The restaurant’s attention to detail was outstanding. I particularly loved the elegant leather menu covers, which added a touch of sophistication to the experience. The overall atmosphere was warm, stylish, and inviting, perfectly complemented by the breathtaking views — overlooking the mountains and the sea, the setting is simply unmatched. Service was efficient and friendly, and the food arrived promptly, which we appreciated as a larger group. Every starter was done brilliantly — from the fresh oysters and the ostrich tartare to the vibrant salad, each dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. The mains were equally superb. Between us, we had the springbok loin, the line fish, and the fillet mignon, and every plate was cooked to perfection — tender, flavorful, and thoughtfully plated. It’s clear that the kitchen team takes great pride in their craft. Overall, Tangram Restaurant truly deserves its five stars. The combination of excellent food, remarkable wine, attentive service, and unbeatable views makes this one of the finest dining experiences in the Cape. It’s well worth your money — premium quality at fair prices and an atmosphere that makes the evening feel special from start to finish. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable and refined dining experience. Can’t wait to back for a next visit!

Went for dinner and the sunset views are absolutely amazing from here, for spectacular photography i would highly recommend . Parking is easy and paved roads to get to restarant which makes ir ideal for all vehicles, some wine farms have gravel roads . This is on durbanville hills wine estate , so you could do wine tasting and then a lovely meal. Good is well priced and quality . We had the line fish which was kingklip on the day , springbok steak which was perfectly prepared, pork belly and normal beef steak . They do not serve hard liquor though which was a bit disappointing for the group as the men wanted some brandy or whisky. Every main dish is accompanied by a glass of wine paired best with the meal and included in the price already which was a very nice touch . Dessert was also great , I had something with peanut butter which was not overpowering. Friendly service , however the waitress did not explain the meals very well and had us bit confused , she also alluded that she could get whisky but then only brought coke and said she was joking , which we did not understand that way and the gentleman did not want just coke , so some miscommunication there . We also had to look for her , it was a Saturday evening for dinner . Overall will i be back or recommend , yes . Well priced for food with wine you are receiving, lovely views , will be lovely to have special occasions celebrations also .
