My husband & I celebrated our 20th Wedding Anniversary on the 22nd December 2021. This was a special day & milestone for us. So our 3 beautiful kids saved up to make this day special & memorable for their parents. We drove to Wynberg & decided to try the much raved about food at Sabrias Restaurant, which is fully Halal. We were absolutely amazed by the service , food & personal touch shown to us. They have a menu with a variety of dishes to choose from. Hubby & I was seated at a cosy table for 2 with a romantic candle burning between us. The waitress was incredibly friendly & attentive. Upon hearing it's our anniversary, she seemed even more sweet. We started off with the most juiciest delicious crumbed prawns in a sauce to die for & a bowl filled with mussels covered in what I can only describe as out of this world sauce. Absolutely incredible. Our main course consisted of hubby's favorite i.e meat. He ordered their mixed grill which seemed like too much for him to handle lol. It was well prepared, tender & beautifully presented on the plate with crispy wedges on a seperate side dish. But he went ooh I'm not taking any doggy bags & the kids will just have to come here to taste it for themselves. I ordered the Cheddermelt steak with mushroom sauce & it came with a filled to the brim side dish of spiced potato wedges. It was a generous portion of yummyness. I just had to let hubby try a piece & was he impressed. I firmly told him he's not getting more. My meal was divine, but too much for me. I took some for our kids & they were licking their fingers. Our drinks had to wait a bit, as our food was leaving no space as yet lol. We talked about the 20 years & obviously the kids. Then out of the blue comes the manageress/ hostess with a beautiful rectangular serving dish with a desert oozing with delectable chocolate. But it was the actual personal message written in gold glitter which caught us off guard. It read... To the lovebirds & it was catching arty use of attention to detail. đ˛. Hubby & I had 2 spoons to enjoy this desert like new lovesick teens on their first dateđ. After our meal, the waitress brought us sealed, hot rose smelled hand cloths to clean our hands with. Classy... Sabrias Restaurant gets 5 stars from us & we will highly recommend them. We wish to thank them for the personal touch, the incredible food & for being another phenomenal memory in our marriage. Please try them yourselves & I know you won't regret it. We are already planning to arrange a special 50th birthday for my handicapped brother at Sabrias. Catering from them would undoubtedly put any occasion you have on another level, with guests raving about the amazing food. They are worth every sent spent. Thank you kindly from Mr...
Read moreI have always been a fan of Sabria's Restraurant. My partner and I have visited the place twice and we have enjoyed the food thoroughly. We were there again tonight and the food as always was amazing. But then there was the service.
Our first waiter brought us our food and we told him later that the fries were under cooked. He asked us if we actually wanted them well done when we told him about this (I was surprised by this, I didn't know fries come any other way). So he took it back and never came back to serve us because he was apparently annoyed by this.
Another waiter continued serving us in the meantime and he was great until the bill came. He brought us the bill and I noticed that the service fee had already been added (10% of the cost). We were okay with paying that for the new waiter but not for the old one but I just happened to mention it to him that I find it surprising that restaurants do this because where is the incentive for doing well.
He most probably got annoyed by this because when he added an additional R5 to the bill and I mentioned it, he didn't agree. Once we paid, we received no thank yous and the waiter left.
The tipping should not be mandatory for that service.
To the owner: the waiters name was Joseph. He served us on the 8th December evening. As a request please change the mandatory tipping to only groups larger than 6 or so. I don't think there is an incentive for the...
Read moreUpon entering the restaurant the furnishings are somewhat modern, but almost to the extent itâs trying to hard to be trendy. As we made our way to a table, the table was not sturdy and this was somewhat annoying, as itâs supposedly a fine dinning establishment.
As we perused the menu, the items available wasnât anything special and yet the prices were steep.
Three starters were ordered. The chicken wings and riblet combo, the calamari tubes and the mussels.
The chicken and riblet combo, the basting was amazing and the meats were succulent.
The calamari tubes, tasty as well, however too much sauce and too little bread.
The mussels, again too much sauce, the flavour of fishiness was overwhelming, and therefore would definitely not recommend this item.
The service: the waitron tried to be helpful, he wasnât paying attention when we cancelled an item, and proceeded to put that item through. The unwanted item had to be paid for, otherwise this would come out of the waitrons salary. Considering that we were only two people in the restaurant, the preparation of the food took way too long. From this first impression, I was quite miffed at the fact that we had to pay a service fee as well as gratuity for poor service rendered.
Wonât return...
