I can understand why this place has received good reviews. However, in my experience, there are many other pork soup restaurants that I find more flavorful, though I won’t mention them here, as it wouldn’t be appropriate. The food here is certainly tasty, but I feel the reputation of this being the "best pork soup restaurant" is a bit overrated. It seems to be advertised as a must-visit spot due to its popularity among travelers.
The servers seemed quite unfriendly, possibly because they were busy, and the place felt very busy. It was also uncomfortable to have tables so close together that I was sitting right next to strangers. At the pork soup places I’m familiar with, the food is good, and you don’t have to share a table with other customers.
The broth here tends to be on the heavier side, and the side dishes provided are the usual basics: kimchi, radish kimchi, chives, onions, and peppers. Especially during lunch and dinner hours, there’s often a long wait, and I’m not sure if it’s worth waiting that long. It might be a good idea to explore other pork soup...
Read moreYou can't make a visit to Busan without trying 돼지국밥 which is a pork and rice soup. This restaurant had a lot of reviews and seems like a popular spot which it was as there was a line of people there waiting for a bowl of this delicous goodness.
I decided to get the 손대 (blood sausage) + 고기 (meat) 국밥 which is like the original 돼지국밥 but with the added extra of the blood sausage.
The broth was very well flavoured with a good pork taste from hours of cooking and it was clean tasting without any strong smell other than the natural pork flavour. The pork was very nice and tender and not rubbery like some others I have tried and having the blood sausage really elevated this dish to another level. What I really love is when you add the chives, rice and additional seasoning if you require and mix it all up to leave such a hearty and flavour some bowl...
Read moreMy daughter visited this place when she was in Korea last winter. Since then she has been talking about it. She wanted me to try the food and figure out how to make it. Of course, she must have unreallistically high regard for her mom's culinary skills. The soup was rich and full of flavor. The meat was tender and tasty. The price was very good as well. I did not notice any red flag in terms of the hygiene practices at the place either. It was just your typical eatery in ambience. The food and price were excellent, which is a trade-off you will have to pay for the loong line (1 extra "o" for the longer than my usual tolerance level). You can reserve your spot (using an app called "tabling" they do not mention on their website) before you leave...
