Looking for a good Indian / Dubai restaurant in 현풍? Here it is. Please note, my experience with Indian food is limited to the many Indian lunch buffets in New York and NJ, which I have visited many times over.
We stopped by here for lunch on Monday to find out they are closed on Mondays. We made another plan to revisit on Wednesday, and so we did.
Upon entering the restaurant, you will notice how spacious and airy the place is. If you can grab a table by the window, do it. The view from the window tables overlook the neighboring park, and the view is beautiful. It makes the eating experience even better.
We ordered the Happy Thali package, which is a combination for 2 people. We also ordered an egg biryani (Indian fried rice) dish and an extra garlic naan. The tandoori chicken was good. The mushroom curry was an orange red color which resembled a tikka masala dish color. The flavor was similar, and we enjoyed this dish. The chicken korma was a golden color dish. We found the chicken korma a bit too sweet. I live in America, so some Korean foods I have noticed are sweeter to me than normal. But, our entire party of 3 thought the korma sauce was too sweet.
We received 2 lassi drinks. 1 was a strawberry type and the other a regular type. For those that don’t know, lassi is a drinkable yogurt type of beverage. The package also comes with 1 garlic naan and 1 regular naan. Naan is always best when hot. Their naan is on the thin side, but big.
The dishes come with yellow rice, but it is not the traditional Indian basmati rice. They seemed to have used a Korean glutinous rice and a curry color to make the rice yellow. The rice was not bad, but it was a good thing we ordered the biryani. For me, the egg biryani was the star among the dishes that we ordered. The biryani used real basmati rice, which made it feel more authentic. The spices here were strong but good. We would order the chicken or beef biryani next time.
Our server was very nice and friendly, while attentive to our table.
Prices are not cheap, but where else in 현풍 can you find authentic Indian food?
We plan to come back again...
