Altende — Restaurant in Daejeon

A bit more expensive than the other top Napoli pizza places in Daejeon but they do make the best product. Good spring on the dough, proper oven. The pizza typical Napoli style; big crust, soggy middle. Nice tangy sauce flavor. The Diavola pizza there has a little more spice than others in Yuseong and it was a welcome change. Isn't it supposed to be a bit devilish with heat. The americano that I ordered was a decent cup of coffee. The server had the prescience to ask if I wanted the coffee now (yes, thank you). Service was terrific; they were attentive but didn't hover. I could see them watching me from a distance every once in a while to check on me. They served pickles on the side; I prefer peppers but didn't ask if they had it to offer.

The crust was crisp and airy, the sauced part was cooked and floppy; exactly what you are looking for in a Napoli pizza. Cheesy but not so cheesy that it was an annoyance. A bit more sausage would've been more to my liking but that's me and I really mean only a bit more.

With the combination of ambience, product, and service, they stand atop the the other Napoli pizza restaurants with Altende, Nuovo Napoli, and Pizzeria D614 being the top three.

Honestly I eat at all of these places, especially Nuovo since it's a half a block from my home.

Wine starts at W40,000--that's a bummer since Nuovo has a wine bar nearby and you can buy the bottle there and take it to Nuovo and pay the corkage (well, sometimes they charge you the corkage). It would be nicer if there were some cheaper bottles available.

I didn't try the pasta but I'm really a pizza guy and need other people with me to have some of the pasta. Maybe next time...

All in all, great place if you want Napoli pizza in Daejeon. Yuseong-gu really has it all.
