Coffee Nap Roasters HQ — Restaurant in Pyeongtaek-si

Coming up to their fourth year anniverserary, the NAP Coffee Roasters brand initially started out in the rural setting of Jinwi village near Pyeongtaek. They've since added two more venues, opening their second brand in Seoul's Yeonnam-dong in 2018, with a third concept cafe opening in October 2020.

Their "HQ" and warehouse style cafe in Jinwi remains relatively unchanged since the interior was remodelled in 2017. Features include a four metre long sliding front door, exposed steel beams and framework, a zen like gravel and rush terrace and a floating island pour over bar built carefully over the exposed floor.

NAP roast extensively on their in-house Probat (Germany) and at the time of visiting had five different single origins ready for V60 filter brewing:

5. Peru Apas Vahu De-Caffeinated

Their house blends include:

1. 317 (India 30%, Guatemala 35% and El Salvador 35%)

I almost missed this cafe but it’s an surprise find. It offers 3 beans for the coffee drinks. Americano was very good and I enjoyed its bakery items too. 연남동에서 나름 핫 하다는 커피냅로스터스의 본점입니다.

오래된 양조장을 개조한 카페라는데 낡은 것의 매력을 그대로 살린 내외관이 인상적입니다. 어쭙잖게 건드리거나 새로 만들지 않고 그대로 두려 한 점이 마음에 듭니다. 밖에서 볼 때 붉은 바닥과 건물의 조화도 괜찮고 건물과 바로 옆 고목과도 잘 어울리네요.

실내로 들어서면 기둥이 없고 공간을 유리로 나누어 탁 트인 느낌이 듭니다. 천장 일부를 투명 슬레이트로 바꾸어 채광을 고려한 점도 괜찮고, 슬레이트 덕분인지 나무 덕분인지 정교하게 계산된 배치 때문인지는 모르겠으나 소리의 울림이 없어 사람은 붐비지만 정신 사납지 않다는 것도 만족스럽습니다.

덕분에 비오는 날 들르기에 아주 좋은게, 슬레이트 덕분에 빗소리가 실내로 들리는데 소리의 울림이 없어 빗소리가 상당히 매력적입니다. 비가 억수같이 쏟아지는 날 한번 가보는 걸 추천드립니다.

커피는 추천해주는 원두로 핸드드립한 것을 마셨는데 맛있었습니다. 커피는 잘 모르지만... 끝맛의 불쾌감이 없는게 괜찮았습니다. 반면 호기심에 고른 얼그레이 파운드는 아주 별로였습니다. 그냥 점원이 추천하는거 드시길.

주차가 애매하긴 하지만 주변에 주차할 곳이 널려있어 크게 불편하지는 않습니다.
