Gangjeong of divers home — Restaurant in Seogwipo-si

Despite the many unfavorable reviews about this place, I decided to visit it with my wife and 2 year old toddler.

The operator of the restaurant came across as aloof and unfriendly but in fact it was just a communication barrier issue. That barrier was removed by the end of the meal and we were all smiles.

Back to the food, i highly recommend the options that i have selected - the uni rice, seafood uni soup and noodles. I regretted not ordering the sashimi and will be back to try them...

여름의 열기를 뚫고 간 이 펜션같은 가게에서 시킨 한치 물회는 제철맞는 한치가 수북하게 쌓여나왔다. 살아있는 상태에서 바로 썰어나오기 때문에 아직 신경이 살아서 꿈틀꿈틀 움직인다. 한치를 찾아먹지 않는 사람이라면 접하기를 모듬초밥에 끼여나오는 한치초밥으로 많이들 맛보았을 것이다. 하지만 과숙성된 냉동한치와 활로 먹는 것은 맛의 차이가 확연하다. 초밥에서 느껴지던 비릿한 단맛은 전혀 없고 식감도 오히려 활로 먹는게 꼬들꼬들하고 연하다. 새콤한 물회 양념이 입안을 자극하고 넘어가면 살의 단 맛이 씹을 때마다 터져나온다. 은근한 단 맛이 고이는 침과 함께 입안을 가득 채우고 목 뒤로 부드럽게 삼켜진다. 그렇게 물회로 더위가 싹 가시면 밥을 한 숟갈 떠서 물회에 담궈 한치와 같이 먹어보길 바란다. 그 온도차의 조화가 완벽하다. 혹 물회를 더 자극적으로 먹고싶다면 양념장을 추가로 달라하면 된다. 제철 맞은 한치 놓치지...
