Interesting place. Came because of the good ratings. No one speaks English there and they have neither English nor Chinese menus. Thankfully, there was Chinese speaking waitress so some communication was still possible for me. She didn't exactly translate the menu, but instead asked what type of food I wanted, offering noodles, soup, etc. I said noodles, and after warning me that the noodles was served cold, she went ahead and ordered on my behalf. Dish came after a period of apprehensive waiting, and waitress helpfully came back several times after to make sure that I was okay with the food as its very different from Chinese cuisine and I guess she was afraid I might not have liked her recommendation.
It's some kind of noodle bimbab with sashimi. No idea what fish that was though. Was really afraid too that the cost would come out to something exorbitant cos she never mentioned the price, but it turned out to be only 8000 won, not bad considering the sashimi grade fish.
Overall a great experience, though I wish they could just translate...
Read moreHad an amazing meal here. Long line if you don't make s reservation. We did and were brought upstairs which is much quieter and for large parties.
Winter. So flattish (방어) and mackerel (거등어) were in season. They had them up front in tanks, and when we left we could see about half were gone from each tank. You know it's fresh and they have to be so it doesn't start to smell.
First we got the raw fish, a huge plate we couldn't finish, because they brought out noodles with raw fish. Then they brought out cutlassfish (갈치 조림) marinated and cooked, so delicious. Finally, spicy soup with fish, cooked with the spate parts. Uniquely it was white, not red. But still spicy.
5 star meal, popular with locals and not flashy for tourists. This is where you get great food at great prices. Highly...
Read moreTried this raw fish restaurant while I was in Jeju and it was a pretty cool experience. They serve raw mackerel as part of a full set, which makes it a nice, complete meal.
The set came with raw mackerel, a really good fish soup, some kind of fish jorim (not totally sure what fish it was – maybe hairtail or flatfish? – but it was tasty), some jolmyeon, and rice with sesame oil. Everything was solid.
I’m not usually big on raw fish, but the mackerel had a unique taste – like, you instantly know it’s mackerel. Not bad at all, but I personally enjoyed the jorim and fish soup more. Super flavorful...
