Sala Thai Restaurant — Restaurant in Seongnam-si

They recently moved to this new venue from the Polaris building at the original Jeongja cafe street. I have been a regular diner at the other place since 2008, but it doesnt seem to keep up with the reputation it once had. Well, all the menu got pricier, even after taking into account the wage raise and the rather unstable Korean economy.

Plus, the tom yum soup was overly sweet, when it should have the nice balance between sweet and sour, and the yam woon sen sauce was overwhelmingly salty for the amount of noodles they gave us. In fact, the pad thai noodle was closest to the authentic thai food among the three dishes we had that night.

Though the waiter told us the place is owned by the same person, I dont think I can recommend this place as I would have...

태국에서 음식을 먹어본 경험으로... 이곳의 어떤 메뉴들은 한국사람들이 먹기 편하게 요리해준 것 같다. 예를 들면 똠양꿍 같은 경우는 특유의 신맛이 심하지 않았다. 다만 가격이 매우 비싼 편이다. 태국이었으면 1/3 정도의 가격이었을 것 같다.

게살볶음밥답게 고소하고 맛있었음. 커리볶음이랑 같이 먹으면 더 맛있음. 똠양꿍이랑 먹어도 괜찮고.

보편적인 쌀국수에 익숙하다면 조금 별로일 수도 있을 것 같다. 그래도 맛은 나쁘지 않음.

가격이 다른 타이 음식점에 비해 약간 높은편이며 음식맛은 태국음식을 한국인의 입맛에 맞게 변형시켜서 태국음식을 안먹어본 사람도 부담없이 먹을수 있을듯하다 똠얌꿍은 신맛이 거의 없고 피쉬소스 향과 맛이 강해서 못먹던 쏨땀 또한 무난하게 먹을수 있을정도니.. 태국친구들과 방문했는데 한국종업원분이 태국말로하니 주문을 잘 못받아서 대신주문하다가 나중에는 태국분이 주방에서 직접나와 추가로 주문을 받아갔네요 ㅎㅎ...
