This restaurant is a must visit if you want to savour the freshest premium seafood Sokcho has to offer in a comfortable setting with excellent service. We came across this restaurant while on the hunt for haemultang (해물탕) here in Sokcho, since this place is known for the freshest of seafood.

We ordered the Emperor’s Seafood Stew (황제 해물탕) for 2 pax (90,000W) from the menu. A large pot of spicy soup brimming with fresh live seafood was brought to our table. There was live abalone and octopus (still moving), crab, scallops, clams, mussels, prawns, squid and even fish milt (and some other seafood we couldn’t identify). There were also a lot of soybean sprouts, enoki mushrooms and some radish in the soup.

Our server helped us to prepare the seafood by deshelling the larger items and cutting up the crab into more manageable portions as we ate our banchan and watched the pot cook.

The haemultang was incredible. The seafood was so fresh and tasty, I don’t think we could have gotten freshest portions unless we caught them ourselves. The soup itself was made from the seafood stock, and you could taste the sea in every bite. And although this was supposed to be a 2-person portion, it was massive, and we had to waddle out of the resto after our dinner, full but happy.

Service is also outstanding. The staff are professional and efficient. The owner upon noticing that it was our first time here in Sokcho, even gave us a bottle of Pepsi as a service. They are really too kind. The restaurant may be pricey, but you get what you pay for. Definitely...

A must try if you're in Sokcho. They serve seafood tang (soup) or jjim (braised) and they are made as fresh as it can be. The tang is very savoury and while they use a special shrimp soup base (brewed in house of course), all the seafood that is being boiled brings more depth in to the broth as it continues to be boiled down. Finish it off with some rice and you can forget about eating the rest of the day.

Service is top notch. They really cater to tourists and the owner is a kind, humble man that is truly passionate about his business. We actually misread the time and came a little late but he waited for us to finish even though it was closed!

Will definitely be bringing my friends to this place next time I'm back....

It's been a long time since I went to Sokcho, and I'm leaving a review after eating so delicious steamed seafood. This place has very neat and clean interior along with the taste of very fresh seafood. Other places I have been for Steam Seafood was very salty and lack of ingredients. But Bok Susan was the place where they generously give all the ingredients as you can see on the photo. Huge steamed octopus, crab, abalone, and others. The waitress kindly explained how to eat all those premium seafood. So even if you visit for the first time, you do not have to worry about anything. Premium Seafood Restaurant you must visit when you...
