Wow, I visited here in the early summer, already it is so much crowded with people waiting. I really enjoyed this food, felt something familiar and filled with somewhat decent. How do they make this cold soup so delicate? I visited here today, however I’m already missed this place!

날이 더운 주말 브런치에 평양냉면만한게 있을까. 운동하고 오는 길에 의정부를 들러서 의정부 평양면옥 본점을 가봤다. 평소에는 고양 스타필드에 있는 의평옥엘 자주 간다. 일단 이 가게에 다가오니 마트 들어가는 마냥 길가에 차가 길게 줄을 선다. 설마설마 했는데 이 집으로 가는 줄이다. 주차장도 넓고 회전율이 좋아서 빠르게 빠지긴 해야하지만 그래도 오픈한지 30분 쯤 지나서 갔는데도 15분 정도 웨이팅은 기본으로 해야하는 것 같다. 가게 안은 매우 조도가 낮아서 밥 먹기 좋은 느낌은 아니다. 어두컴컴한데다가 정신도 사납고 일하는 분들의 서빙이..상당히 불편하다. 그리 바쁜 일도 없는데 그렇게 시키는 건지 분명히 일하는 분들도 많고 냉면이라 급할일도 없는데 손님이 말을 하는 것이 끝나기 전에 말을 잘라 먹고 그냥 돌아선다. 뭘 달라고 해도 끝까지 않듣는다. 평냉집 대부분이 이런 부분이 참 아쉽다. 먹고 싶어서 가는데, 단가도 낮은 것도 아닌데 참...동네 분식집만도 못한 접객 매너. 왜그렇게 밥을 먹는 사람들을 불편하게 할까. 주인 아들 쯤 되는 어린 남자도 그런 모습을 빤히 보면서 넘어가는 거 보면 씁쓸하다. 결론은 하절기라 만두도 없었고 (아쉽다) 어두컴컴하기도 했고, 접객도 그지 같아서 거기까진 두번은 가지 않을 것 같다. 의평옥 보다 면도 좀 얇은 것 같다. 맛은? 뭐 맛있지. 적절한 조미료의 맛. 시원하고 감칠맛 넘치는 평양냉면과 제육의 조합. 말해 뭐해. 그래도 안갈련다.

My wife thought we were crazy to go out in the snow to try cold Naengmyeon but once we were there we realised we had made the right choice. There were many others braving the cold to just dine on these delicious chewy cold noodles. Ample seating space and even a few carparks out front which is handy as many restaurants have no parking. I think the restaurant had some sort of heritage status recognition too. Anytime of the year, hot or cold, a delicious...
