I recently had the displeasure of dining at the restaurant of La Garganta, and I must say that my experience was horrible. Despite the restaurant's amazing location and promising menu, the overall experience was far from satisfactory.
First, the prices are too high considering the quality of service that they provide. The food itself was not terrible but not worth the prices that they charge. It seems that the restaurant takes advantage of its limited competition in the area.
However, the most significant issue was undoubtedly the service. The waiters and waitresses who worked there were the worst I have ever come across. It was painfully evident that they hate what they do. Their carelessness and indifference towards the customers were truly sad. Clearly they don´t have any interest in providing a pleasant dining experience to the customers.
The lack of attention from the staff was evident during every meal that I ate there. I had dinner two times and three breakfasts. The service was always consistently bad. Requests for simple items took a giant amount of time to fulfill. Alway had to ask twice or three times. This unprofessional behavior prevented me from having a good experience and enjoying the ambiance of the restaurant.
In conclusion, my visit to La Garganta's restaurant was a regrettable experience. For those seeking a delightful dining experience, I would strongly advise looking elsewhere, there are better options available in the area. If you drive a few kilometers you will find better ones, cheaper but above all attentive service.
The only people I would recommend this place to would be people I don't like. But since I...

Finding Restaurante La Garganta was like uncovering a hidden culinary treasure in the remote beauty of El Chorro. Having dined here twice, the restaurant has proven itself as a beacon of exceptional cooking in an area with limited options. Each dish we savored was a testament to the chef’s prowess.
The tomato salad, featuring fresh garden tomatoes, was a refreshing start, while the grilled tomatoes topped with goat cheese married rustic flavors beautifully. The duck accompanied by confit apples was cooked to perfection, with the sweetness of the apples complementing the rich duck. The classic salad with an innovative cauliflower cream was a delightful surprise, introducing a creamy texture to the greens.
However, the standout was the salad with grilled mushrooms and pine nuts - an explosion of earthy flavors that left us absolutely impressed. The stuffed cabbage was comforting and well-executed, and the secret iberico ham, grilled flawlessly, was a showcase of quality ingredients treated with respect.
Restaurante La Garganta is a must-visit for those in El Chorro, offering dishes that are both simple and extraordinary, leaving you with the realization that sometimes the best meals are found in the most...
Read moreFood was fine and the view is lovely but service leaves much to be desired… my goodness, how does it take 1 hour to bring out some sliced tomatoes and a platter of cured ham for starters?! The tomatoes probably hadn’t been washed either because there was a sticker on one of them. The waiter offered to replace them but I wasn’t going to wait another hour lol - so he kindly took them off the bill. Mains took another 30-40m after we finished starters so we asked for the bill and left as soon as we could. I also think it’s pretty bad service to just put the drinks in the middle of the table, especially after waiting so long to receive them. I would never have done that in the restaurants I have worked at.
Would probably avoid this place as it’s clearly a tourist trap (but they’ll service the Spaniards before the foreign tourists 🙃). Wish I’d read the reviews about service before sitting down after working up an appetite walking the Caminito del Rey...
