Goiko — Restaurant in Albacete

Americans eating at an American Burger restaurant in Spain. From our recent experience, we can confirm that the staff did not take the customer service training for their job because the service was terrible. We have had better service at McDonalds than here. Due to local restaurants being closed or booked, we decided to go here because online it looked appealing, it was in walking distance, and we were willing to spend a bit more for a good burger. We were seated but given no further instructions, the waitress just left. We knew what to do anyway by scanning the code to read the menu. We were tired and hungry and asked the waitress to take our orders instead. She did but seemed annoved. We were charged full price for the kids drinks, when there was a deal advertised for a kids meal, including the drink. They forgot to bring us a serving of sweet potato fries and we had to ask. One of us ordered a burger without the bacon, but put it on anyway and the waitress was fully agitated and took it away with attitude. Some of us wanted extra ketchup and we also wanted to order a bottle of water, but there was never an opportunity because she never returned to our table again. The food was definitely overpriced (especially the drinks!) On a positive note, the burgers and fries were really delicious and the whole restaurant concept/atmosphere was inviting. It was obvious that this restaurant has a lot of Glovo deliveries and couples on dates. I would recommend to management to review their staff or retrain them unless they are willing to lose business. Muestra promesa, servicio atentísimo, pero debe mejorar.

Hoy he probado el Goiko, que conocía de oídas de sus restaurantes en Madrid. Una peculiaridad (para nosotros) es que se espera que el cliente reserve siempre, proceso que puede hacerse por la web, aunque exige dar datos personales, claro.

La carta es adecuada y hay menú del día (hamburguesa del día, bebida y postre por 11,50 €) además de que las hamburguesas son bastante originales. Hemos probado los nachos, que tenían una cantidad suficiente de guacamole, nata agria y aderezo para todos los totopos, por lo que no terminas comiendo maíz solo. Tal vez se echa en falta un queso que funda, pero estaban muy buenos. Las famosas patatas, aunque caseras, me parecieron blandas y poco apetecibles como si llevaran hechas mucho tiempo. Aprecio la honestidad en reconocer en la carta lo que se elabora ahí y lo que viene en bolsa.

La hamburguesa Elvis lleva mantequilla de cacahuete, plátano plancha y bacon y es una guarrería tan satisfactoria como parece. La Chipotle pica moderadamente y el guacamole está muy bueno. El punto de la carne ("poco hecho") es ideal y la hamburguesa está muy buena. El postre del menú, un mini frozen de galleta Oreo, tiene un intenso sabor y desde luego es un sitio para venir con hambre y salir hinchado. La comida en sí no tiene peros, todo lo más que alguna hamburguesa cuesta comerla de lo grandes que son.

El servicio es atentísimo, con camareros suficientes (Vicente nos atendió) para cubrir las mesas del local. Cada tanto se pasarán por la mesa a comprobar que no falta nada y no tienes por qué pedir siempre al mismo camarero, algo que detesto de otros establecimientos. El local es alargado, con las mesas bastante juntas y un lateral con sofá de pared a pared en lugar mesas. No hay mucha luz dentro, pero crea un ambiente relajado. Hay premura por recoger la mesa y en las condiciones de reserva se advierte que el tiempo máximo es de hora y media, pero tampoco es que te azuzen a irte de forma brusca.

Mi principal inconveniente a la hora de recomendar el sitio, al menos para ir asiduamente, son los precios. Cobrar en Albacete 12 € por una hamburguesa es complicado, pero añadirle a que las bebidas van del palo de 2,90 € una clara de 20 cl o 3,90 € un tercio de Alhambra Reserva, por no seguir con los nachos a 11,50 €. No obstante, le doy la bienvenida a este nuevo restaurante y es bueno que aparezca en Albacete una opción más. No será la última, viendo cómo se van expandiendo otros restaurantes similares como Timesburg, Hamburguesa Nostra, Tommy Mel's y las propuestas extranjeras (Five Guys, Carl's Jr., Steak...

Very good burgers, easily the best hamburgers in Albacete (although that's not hard to do to be honest). They also have a few good craft beers. We had a good time with our kids who had a hard time finishing all their food. The nachos and the smash burger were great, the guacamole was very fresh. Had the chipotle burger on other occasions, also a more than decent choice. They cook the patty to order.
