Restaurante Can Somni — Restaurant in Alcalà de Xivert

Can Somni is our favorite restaurant in Alcossebre. We discovered it last summer and it still does not disappoint. The restaurant proper is beautiful, the food is fresh, and the service is excellent. The owner is a talented chef who prepares beautiful dishes, rooted in Spanish cuisine, but with original touches. There is also a terrace where you can get burgers, nachos, and other beach food, but we recommend the restaurant itself. The menu is mostly fresh seafood, and paella’s of many different types, but you can also get steak, pork, and lamb dishes. We usually have cocktails and a starter, entrées with wine, and dessert with liqueur for under €100 total for two people. The chocolate coulant with tangerine ice cream is amazing. This is a restaurant run with a great deal of love. We ate there maybe twice last summer and once on the terrace, and we have been back twice this year. Last year on our first visit, I asked for an Amaretto with dessert. The owner said they didn’t have any unfortunately, but they had Frangelico. On our most recent visit, when I ordered Frangelico per usual, the owner surprised me by bringing out a bottle of Amaretto. We had a fantastic lunch last Sunday afternoon. We've been trying to get here for a meal over the past year and it was well worth the wait. The setting is amazing overlooking the sea on the corner of Playa Del Moro. The service was excellent. There were a few things that we didn't understand on the menu but the waiters and the woman who runs the restaurant took time to explain the menu thoroughly and suggest options if there wasn't something available or something we preferred they could change. Un restaurante que lo han dejado muy bonito y lo regenta otra gente, pero por desgracia la comida no estuvo a la altura de nuestras expectativas ( expectativas normales ).

Hemos pedido una ensalada de tomate con atún en escabeche y bueno, los tomates algunos estaban pasados y otros no sabían a nada, pero esto es normal , a veces los tomates de hoy es lo que tienen , el atún en escabeche de la ensalada bastante escaso. Después un gazpacho minúsculo por 7 euros que me a parecido un poco exagerado el precio, si pusieran un poco más me parecería bien. Después hemos comido unas croquetas de pollo que estaban muy buenas, hemos pedido tb unos boquerones fritos que, no estaban nada crujiente la fritura y hemos tenido que pedir sal por q estaban sosos , esto muy mal. Y por último una fideuá para 3 por 21 euros la ración , que le sobraba el espárrago de mar y la lechuga de mar , la fideuá sabía a todo menos a pescado , no estaba mala , pero no sabía a pescado. La lechuga de mar en forma de bouquet en el centro no pintaba nada, de hecho a sido molesto tenerla. La presentación de la fideuá con gambas abiertas por la mitad me a encantado y estaban buenas.

El servicio a sido impecable , muy serviciales , amables y dedicados por el comensal, a pesar del calor sofocante que caía a las 15:00 de la tarde. Aceptan perro y han tenido mucho cuidado y han sido simpáticos con ellos en todo momento.

Después y como detalle, nos han traído la cuenta, pero se nos a olvidado pedir un par de chupitos que nos apetecía , pero le hemos dicho q se los cobraran después con otra cuenta , pero me a parecido un poco ridículo que nos cobraran 4 euros por 2 chupitos después de haber pagado 140 euros y sin postre y por una comida muy plana, en fin.
