Karmela Restaurant — Restaurant in Alhaurín de la Torre

This is a decent restaurant in Alhaurin de la Torre. The idea and creativity they present is not equalled by product and delivery. The plates we had were fine, but frustrating that they could have been better. The Langostinos in Tempura with spicy mayonnaise and the white chocolate brownie were easily the best dishes. Followed by the taco de Atun tartar. The ribs in prawn cracker was ok, as was the Cesar salad (which has no resemblance to a Cesar salad at all). The Russian salad and potatoes Japones with citric (without citric) were total fails. We barely ate any of either. The Russian salad had a liquid mayonnaise which was a let down. No flavour at all. The potatoes in both dishes were cut to the size of miniature cubes. The brava sauce was basically the Russian salad mayonnaise with paprika added. I would recommend they revisit the mayonnaise completely, revise and try again.

By Alhaurin standards this is probably one of the better choices on offer, but doesn't really reach its price tag. I wouldn't say people shouldn't try it...it's better than most in Alhaurin (hence the 3 stars), but outside of this town...this kitchen would struggle.

The service was fantastic. They didn't miss anything (except for one plate the kitchen forgot to send at the end), but possibly miscommunication at the end of the day. Fuimos este verano con unos amigos que nos lo habían puesto por las nubes y salimos decepcionados y con hambre. El patio interior es muy bonito pero cabe destacar que la parte donde nos pusieron está en pendiente y es un tanto incómodo comer así.

El servicio fue lento, muy lento a pesar de que había tres mesas más aparte de la nuestra y muchísimos camareros. Iban como pollos sin cabeza sin atinar con los platos de las mesas y con un tiempo de espera entre plato y plato extremadamente largos.

Probamos bastantes platos y ninguno destacó, insulsos, sabores planos y mediocres, de baja calidad y escaso aún cuando te recalca la chica que es "para compartir" y que es mucha cantidad, no os vayáis a dejar nada... Nos pareció de mal gusto después de ver la ridiculez de ensalada. Excesivo showcooking a mi parecer, pero es la moda y a la gente le gusta esa clase de postureo. Te terminan en mesa hasta el tiramisú, si se le puede llamar así. Caliente y sin consistencia.

Este restaurante es un quiere y no puedo con una carta que abarca platos para todos los públicos pero con dos salsas japonesas para poder decir que es fusión. Sobrevalorado, no están a la altura de lo que dicen ser, fuimos con expectativas altas y no hubo nada excepcional pero los precios son como...

Highly recommend a visit to Karmela. Place recently opened, but it feels like they have everything well sorted out.

The inner patio has a great ambience and offers a great escape to calmy enjoy a great lunch or dinner.

The menu offers a nice variety of Andalusian classics with a twist, well-thought and surprising combinations.
