After visiting the beautiful castle we wanted to grab a bite. We went here as the place has a really high score on Google, but unfortunately we felt disappointed. Firstly, compared to other places we have visited in Andalusia, the prices for the plates seemed quite high. We were also charged 1.5 each for ' bread and appetitive ' which was a piece of bread that we didn't touch. That felt unusual compared to other places we have visited in the last weeks.
Secondly, the food we ordered felt quite greasy and bland. The selection of croquettes had little flavour. I predominantly tasted flour and they all seemed identical. Having eaten quite many selections of croquettes in recent days, I found that disappointing. When the waiter asked whether we liked the croquettes my boyfriend said we were a bit disappointed as they all tasted the same to us, which we hadn't expected. In response to that he got a super defensive answer that 95% of guests disagree with us. I find that highly unprofessional. The fried fish we ordered was quite greasy and lacked some salt. When we asked for a lemon we got one and that helped.
It can happen that food isn't to our taste, but to get all defensive about a criticism when asking for an opinion, is...
Read moreWe discovered this place by chance and it was quite late (15.40) but nevertheless they welcomed us and gave lunch. The owner was very nice and suggested us some plates out of the menu that we immediately chose. We took the croquetes from the house that were among the best I tried all over Andalusia. Then we took the pulpo alla parilla with potatoes cream. The grilled cerdo was also very good, cooked perfectly and accompanied with an amazing reuvelto with potatoes (crunchy but juicy, never experienced). We finished with a REAL tarta de queso (not like many cheesecakes pretending to be a tarta de queso) and a tarta de manzana with mango ice cream. Both delicious. We also took a glass of red wine which was really good. The service was fast and polite, as in a real restaurant, and they waited for us to finish even if it was after closing time. The place was also very nice inside. We really...
Read moreWe had a delicious lunch with wonderful service yesterday. We asked for a selection of starters (using Google translate) instead of a main course, which they were happy to do. The owner was proud to explain his croquettes and cold cream soup were family recipes from four generations ago. Portions are enormous, we had four starters between two and it was too much. Staff were friendly and happy for us to muddle along in terrible Spanish and gave us an English menu. There’s a bar area and a grander restaurant area, plus noodly jazz in...
