I enjoyed my lunch at this trattoria today. They have a very reasonably priced menu del dia for 15 euro's. You have multiple options from pizza, meat, fish to pasta dishes. As a drink I chose for a water with gas and it pleases me that they use refillable glas bottles. I wasn't expecting that to come with the price of the menu, but was free of charge in the end. As a starter I chose the Quiche Lorraine. It was a nice meal (maybe needed just a little bit more salt and meat for my taste), acompannied with three pieces of freshly baked bread and a green salad. As a matter of fact, I was already a bit full after this. For the second course I chose a pasta penne carbonara. It tasted good and luckely I was able to take the leftovers that I couldn't finish with me in a takeaway container. I would have felt bad if I had to leave it to go to waste. I knew there was also a dessert with the package, so I chose the chocolate cake. It was a bit dry, so I didn't finish all of it. I spilled a bit of chocolate sauce on my white shirt and while I was cleaning that, the waitress noticed me and came to my rescue with some sort of cleaning spray. What a nice gesture of hospitality! I enjoyed the atmosphere in the restaurant. It was full of locals, enjoying their time with chattering and eating together. The waitresses were kind and helped me by speaking English, although I tried to communicate in Spanish at first. There is an open kitchen, so you can see the chefs preparing the food and everything looks clean and organized. The food is fresh, simple and well made considering the low price. Overall...
Read moreFirst things first - the service is lovely here: attentive and hospitable. It's a shame the food is a mixed bag - the vegetable Italian plate is exquisite: grilled veggies set aside, sprinkled with olive oil, and covered with a generous handful of parmesan. It's a surprisingly light dish, and a perfect late-summer starter. What comes later though, needs some work: pizza dough is dry and heavy, and the amount of fat is overpowering - and overwhelming. Then there is the dessert that could use some improvement too: serving tiramisu with un-soaked, dry lady fingers in a "trattoria" is...
