Restaurante Hidema — Restaurant in Benalmádena

A very Spanish cultured restaurant just off the roundabout. Traffic wasn’t noticeable. We hadn’t booked, but they squeezed us in. This place got busy quick! We sat outside which we prefer. It took a while to have have our drinks order taken and to be given a menu, and it seemed to take even longer to have our food order taken. I don’t know if they just didn’t have enough staff. We kept trying to get the staffs attention and we were either nodded at or told one moment. When we did have our order taken, I don’t know if there was some confusion with language. We wanted to order a meal each, and believe the man said they were tapas/sharing portions. So we ordered less than we were going to. But when the food came out, they were single person portions and we ended up just sharing each others meals? The food was good. We ordered steak, patatas bravas, some kinda seafood salad, a burger and chips (the chips were tiny! I mean like those stick crisps you can get) and prawn pil pil which was delicious. We stumbled upon this restaurant very late in the evening on our way from Cordoba. They have a limited menu, but what they do, they do very well. The ensalada especial is a large and will serve 2 or 3 people. I love the generous amounts of vegetables. It was so good. I also tried the entrecôte steak. It isn’t a cut that is offered in the US. I asked for medium rare. Despite cooking it on a flat top, it was cooked to perfection. Cooking steak right on a flat top is difficult to do. They nailed it! My husband loved his burger. This is one of our favourite restaurants, we regularly eat here and are never disappointed - it's a take on a classic Spanish restaurant and the owners, staff and chef clearly love what they do, and what they do is great! I've read a few of the other reviews and yes, it does get busy (the reason is, the food is good!) and sometimes it takes a while to get your drinks (they're often busy!), and yes, the tomatoes are the some of the best we've had, the quality and consistency over the years is great, would definitely...
