This was an odd experience! We visited el Cañis for the first time yesterday, which was a Friday night. The location, the view and the creative interior/exterior decoration was top notch. It was definitely an “instagram-friendly” place. Every little detail was fascinating. We loved that part! The food (when it finally arrived) was also really good. Both the paella and the steaks. The vegetarian alternative was the only dish that was not to our liking. The problem with this experience was that we felt completely ignored the entire evening. We had to call for the waiters attention repeatedly just to get a chance to order anything. Nobody looked after us or cared if we had what we needed. When we did catch the attention of a waiter, they looked almost bothered or disturbed. We did not receive a single smile or kind word from any of the staff all evening. I don’t know if it was due to the fact that we don’t speak Spanish very well. Also, after we managed to order (which we almost had to beg to be able to do), we waited 1 hour before we were served the food. That could have bothered me more if the circumstances had been different, but we were out with good friends so we still managed to enjoy ourselves. Whoever owns this place - PLEASE send your staff on a crash course in guest service and the place would get a solid 5 star . The staff brings the place down. I don’t think we will be back! There are much better places in downtown Moraira where guests are...
Read moreWe had an early dinner reservation on a weeknight. Upon arrival waiting staff were chatting idle in the foyer. Of the 9 staff in the room, none greeted us until we almost walked into the dining area ourselves. This trend continued throughout the night with one waitress blatantly ignoring my request for assistance at the table. The service was disappointing considering the quiet time of our booking and the amount of staff on the floor.
The setting was interesting, there is quirky art scattered around the restaurant and each table has its own unique layout of glassware and crockery. The view was pleasant although we were strangely told to book earlier in the evening to be able to choose the best seating to enjoy the view. When we arrived however, we were told we could not sit at the tables with a clear view of the horizon. I did also find it a little strange that there was a large display wall of Belgian beer in the foyer despite not having any available in the restaurant.
As far as the food goes, everything was presented well. A pleasant meal in terms of flavour to...
Read moreSeptember 2023 It's not near a main city and certainly not a place you just run into. With the locals it's very known. But willing to drive up to this place will not disappoint you. Very nice, quick and attending staff. Especially lovely when you can sit outside. Don't forget to look to the setting (cutlery, plates) of the tables next to you. Look at the detail (here it is again, detail will set you apart from the rest ... at least my opinion) in the art, lights, ornaments everywhere.
The food is great, even good for some. The plating is different, some combinations (salad and mango ice cream) your amuse IF you get it - they sometimes forget is just a little different, suits the place - give it that little extra.
Paella was oke, not the real Valancian way of Paella. The socarrat was missing, and so close to Valencia you expect that - I was at least. The fish used in the paella was fresh, perfect on flavour nothing wrong with that.
When have the chance ......
