La Moncloa de San Lazaro was one of the best places we stayed at when we walked the 800 km Camino Frances during September/October 2017. We stayed two nights and had a rest day there. The hotel had so much character, our large room in the attic with a particularly large bathroom was gorgeous, the outdoor setting with so much greenery was beautiful and relaxing, eating in the outdoor restaurant area was delightful and the food was lovely, we enjoyed sipping Cafe Completo in the bar with its two open sides and the staff were wonderful. We had a long day’s walk the morning we left and had to leave before breakfast to avoid the heat, we were provided with a very generous picnic breakfast. Read moreWe had a very nice and relaxed lunch here. The menu was varied with something for everyone and the service was very friendly and efficient. Our lamb cutlettes were grilled to perfection and the meat was very tasty and not greasy at all and the chips! The chips were beautifully crisp on the outside and delightfully fluffy on the inside.
The establishment itself is very beautiful and clean and the bar area, especially, is very popular with lots of greenery. It was a cool oasis on a very hot day.
If you are passing through, whether you are a Pilgrim or on a driving holiday, stop over and have a meal or stay over in the hotel.
